There isn't. Only trade for keys you want yourself or with someone you trust completely.

Nope. It will just tell you that you own the game, won't matter if the key is already used or not.

If you have it installed, you probably can't click the next button, which would prompt you to install the game (and show the name).

F+ for volv
that works, once the key is entered it shows already owned > click next and install that very game you tried to redeem
(next button + install info, might not show if the game is already installed) ... that way you would know at least its the
right and valid key - although usually you don't have the chance to test that, besides what it doesn't let you know is
whether it has been used or not lol

Does anyone know a way to check the validity of a steam key without activating it?
If I trade something for a key I don't want/need, I could further trade or gift that key, but I'd want to make sure it is valid first... but when you input a key in Steam's activation window and the key is valid, the game will immediately be added to your library.
