I'm surprised there aren't more people naming Blacklight Retribution. Weird.

Team Fortress 2 is tied with it, and Dota 2 is the only other F2P game I can recommend. Gotham City Imposters was fun, but the servers were too poor to warrant playing it very long.

Actual favourite F2P games would be League of Legends & Star Trek Online, the latter mostly because I'm a Star Trek geek.

also TERA: rising, Path of Exile (but i hate that heavy difficulty spike in the third chapter), and Warframe (because space-cyborg-ninja-suits are AWESOME, but is still buggy as fuck)

at the moment its a tie between war thunder and world of tanks,but my tastes change a lot
from the ones ive played b4 i still like the valve f2p and free games,airmech,battleforge,a.v.a,blacklight retribution,league of legends,dc universe and prolly a few more i cant remember right now

i did try out star conflict but i didnt like it ;(

Star Trek Online or Star Wars: The Old Republic for mmos, TF2 if I feel I hate myself enough to play an fps. My favorite ever isn't around anymore... it was 1vs100 on the 360.

It's not on Steam yet, just Greenlight, but Age of Wushu for being a fun actiony MMO where you can fly and kung fu like Goku.

Warframe is probably the best I've tried...
Planetside 2 looks pretty nice.
