Ah, that explains why cards for Quake 2 dropped out of the blue for me.

Good to know. Had to add a f2p game for ASF to start idling this game.

To clarify for anyone just looking at the thread title, Quake 2 Enhanced is free for owners of the original Quake 2 on Steam or Gog.

For people like me who have the original Quake 2 CD you get nothing.

Because the update is on the stores. How the hell are they going to burn content on your physical CD? :)

i don't think this comment was meant for me.
In his defense, many years ago, i did contact a dev over my original copy of their game and got the steam key for it. Don't know what game it was, probably some eastern jank fps

The comment was ment for you. Because Blando wrote it was for digital media and not CD. And you asked how they verify that. Its obvious a physical CD cant get extra content.

I dont know if I misunderstand your statement you wrote or what you ment with "how would they verify that".

Seeing how it just updates the version I already had - do I understand correctly that there is no way to install the old version now? Is it the same mistake Blizzard did with Warcraft 3 Reforged?

edit. nvm, i'm stupid, see attachment

I believe they did the same with Quake 1, which means you can still play the original. Probably.

Yes but it requires Q2 to access all levels and multiplayer.

it requires ownership like with most mods of the steam store but it doesn't actually use the same files

Apparently we might get Q2RTX with remastered maps soon after all...
