i dont see what the negative to registering is, but you can use a paypal guest account, where you don't use paypal to pay.

The servers has been on maintenance a long time now, so I haven't been able to register, probably nothing negative with it otherwise. Sounds good that you don't have to use Paypal though, read that on the forums. (Probably incompetent people)

What does that mean? You tried and it didn't work or you don't know because you only play with keyboard and mouse?

No he wasn't. He literally just said, "I don't know."

As it doesn't say there is a controller support anywhere on their site or ingame, and therefore he probably assumed there is no controller support.

That would have been an addition to the topic. But that isn't what he said. As I just said, he literally said, "I don't know, I only play with keyboard and mouse."

These are the controls: http://i.imgur.com/3iwJhfl.jpg and there's no way to remap them in game.

If you want to play with a controller, you'd have to use something like Xpadder (you can get the last free version here) to map keyboard and mouse buttons to your pad. Xpadder will work for any game that doesn't have native controller support.

That seems really expensive just for the alpha. I was expecting 7.50, maybe 10.

Yep.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It isn't "just the alpha", it's the full game once it is released. Why would you expect a discount to get to play the game prior to everyone else playing the game? And why would you assume purchasing it during the alpha wouldn't also give you the full game once it's released? It's even right there in their Twitter feed and on the website AND in several forum posts!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Because it says the alpha will be cheaper than the beta, and the beta will be cheaper than the full game. It's the same system Minecraft used. If I remember correctly, Minecraft was about $10 for Alpha, and $20 for Beta. Now it's about $25, I think.

Also, I guess I didn't phrase it right. I knew it was for the entire game.

minecraft was like 5 bucks alpha, and like 15 beta i thought. and now isnt it almost 30?

10€ alpha, 15€ beta, 20€ final product.

This.

Because the game is in alpha and by playing the game in that state you provide the developers with a lot of useful data that enables them to make the final product better. By buying early you also provide them much needed funds to continue development.

Game developers frequently let people play alpha and beta versions for free because the data they get is so useful. In fact, if gamers weren't so eager to play these games they'd probably be willing to pay for beta testers if they had to (but I'm sure they're happy they don't have to do this)

I dunno, I think it is worth a lot more than that based on what I've played so far. I could see it selling for $30-$40 once fully finished.

Wen the game fully releases i think it will cost 20 euros 25$ in US dollars

It will go up in Beta and go up even more in release. Alpha is too much IMO; minecraft was 10 euros for alpha, 15 for beta and 20 for release. 15 euros for alpha is ridiculous.

..It's nothing like minecraft. At least terraria and starmade have mining, LITERALLY the only similarity between MC and Cubeworld is the fact they use cubes, but that's a stretch. Minecraft uses polygons, cubeworld uses voxels. In cubeworld, you can't mine (or at least, not like in MC.), and you can't build.

It doesn't even look like MC, the players are made of blocks, that are grouped up, MC as you as 6 moving polygons. And the land generation is a hell of a lot better in Cubeworld as well. Also a lot more colourful.

there's too much to improve and implement. Current state, it is only worth 10$ IMO

It has a lot of potential. I don't regret my purchase, I just don't think I'll be playing a lot of it until it gets to at least beta.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yes there's a fuckton of potential too. But again i really think 20$ for alpha is expensive. I think more people would buy it if alpha was 10$. I did bite for 20$ since I know how good this will be in the future

Permalink

I'm still on the fence about it. It looks fun, but I just wish it was a little bit cheaper.

then again the alpha price will be the cheapest it will be

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, that's why it's such a tough decision. If I knew it wasn't going to go up in price, I wouldn't worry about it right now. I'm waiting for some real reviews to come out on youtube for it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

you can't really review an alpha officialy, but you can seriously see the potential of the game in some lets play in YT

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You can always try the free version if you know what I mean. If you don't, I'm talking about pirating the game.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Totally worth the money so far. No regrets. Since you get the full game as it updates as long as $20 is lower than the final price then the alpha price is good.

There is definitely much to add and improve upon but currently you can craft items, travel all around the world, ride pets, tame practically every creature in the world if you know the right food, hang glide, sail, adventure, castle raid, crypt raid, find ruins, find rare gems, mine (find iron stacks in caves and bust them open), play with friends in co-op, etc etc. It is also very stable. For an alpha, this is a Rolls-Royce in terms of features and stability.

Personally, I think people that think the price is too high is stuck on the word 'alpha' or is just used to always buying their games on sale. shrugs

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I would like to play it, but it seems expensive for what it currently offers.

Why has no one remembered that Minecraft got famous because of it's cheaper prices while it was in development?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Minecraft brought a lot of attention to voxel-based games in general. I think that's the problem with the pricing for Cubeworld right now. The guy knows he has a massive following and his game had an active subreddit long before it released. He probably figured he could charge that much and get away with it due to the already present popularity of a game that had only had screenshots and videos available to the public so far.

Not the right move, but that's my guess on that decision.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not the right move? He is already making tons of money from it, and that's from the rare times his shop is actually open. Seems like the only bad move he made was not being more prepared.

No options to change controls and I don't have a mousewheel so I can't dodge. I hate when games do this- hope they fix it soon. Also it doesn't support my processor atm so controls are delayed for menu actions somehow...

You could use something like AutoHotKey to simulate the middle mouse button on the keyboard.

All you'd need to do is make a script with something like:

if WinExist("ahk_class Cube")

{
    MButton::LAlt
}

What this script does is check to see if the game is running and if so, change the middle mouse button to Left Alt. If the game isn't running, it won't do anything.

You can find a list of keys here if you want to change it to something else.
