When do you bump a discussion?
Generally, when there are GAs. I will especially if it's been a while and no one else has bumped recently. I bump always when I enter a GA because I think the GA creator would appreciate it (unless asked otherwise, I do read descriptions after all).
I will also bump GAs in the themed threads if mine haven't had a lot of entries. They get buried by other replies, which I don't mind but it would be easier to find if people would reply-bump instead so we wouldn't have to search back so many pages to find anything interesting.
After reading some replies, I am currently debating if I should "bump" threads with "postcount++" instead now ...

What does comment count do for people? Is it just another thing to "collect"?

How could a spammer call himself spammer without knowing his posting/commenting count? There are discussion boards which doesn't display the count, but usually there's a way to figure it out.

spam comments and use an autojoin bot to look like you thank everyone in giveaways <3
and also yes, it's another thing to +1 in their profiles.

Multiple option:
- When I entered at least one GA
- Randomly, when I'm in the mood
- When the creator visibly put a lot of work in their thread/train/puzzle/etc.
- When the creator is someone I'm fond of or posts something I like
- When the discussion is interesting and I want to read more opinions on the topic

If the giveaway creator wants a bump, I'll bump. Otherwise, I try to stick to the topic of the thread if I have something to contribute.

Simple question, a lot of possible answers (if your reason isn't covered properly, please choose "Other:" and explain). When do you bump a thread at SG?
Do you sometimes bump discussions more than once? What is your bump rate, are you a proud royal bumper or a shameful bump-cheapskate? Do you resent people that don't bump or does excessive bumping annoy you? Is your blacklist involved here? Is the quantity of comments including bumps something that indicates the quality of a discussion or train in your opinion? And am I a nutcase for writing 'bump' so many times (did anyone count?)?
