Yeah, pretty much what Melliuc kindly responded with, although in my case it's not about any performance hit. I just don't like having an inferior experience to actual thieves, so will refuse to buy any game with this crapware added to it (I'd happily buy games after the protection window Denuvo offers, if it were removed after serving its purpose).

There are places where you can usually get patches to remove that evil stuff.
Various "copy protections" have infested and damaged my computers over the years, and many also trash performance, so it's now S.O.P. for me to kill them off as soon as possible.
The copy protection from Steam itself though is very innocuous, so I let it survive. I've never even heard rumors of someone having trouble with that one.
