which is da best? (midweek steam sale)

I've been thinking about trying one of the assassins creed games and am wondering which one is the best (besides Black flag)? And since they are all on sale, right nows as good a time as any. Your opinions and advice would be very welcome.

Assassins Creed Brotherhood
But if you want to understand the part of the story that take place outside the Animus it would be better to start with the first one.
But the first one is very repetitive.
