if they did, they should as well remove all the Cod games and other so titled AAA garbage too, buggy since like day one.

I've watched some really good games sit in greenlight forever while pretty much any junk that gets tossed in a bundle gets greenlit. If there were standards to begin with, the free games for votes thing would bother me. But quality was never the measure of success, so it doesn't bother me at all.

I agree. But it's Valves decision to do so. It's not like they can't do anything about it.

in most cases i just go aside these threads because there are realy bad games in that green thing, steam had lots of them before it and now with it its just awfull, still dont understand why people like playing 2d games in pixels on pc in 2014 in 21st century

Tell me what isn't ? Instead of playing modern and cool games (i am not going to say names they are hell of a lot) people play pointless, pixelized, 2d games that you play only with the arrows on keyboard IN STEAM...even my 6yrs old nephew wont play them because he knows what is better.

There are different people, with different tastes in many things, sports, food, books, movies, videogames, etc. Just because you like "modern and cool" games doesn't mean everyone should think the same. I enjoy 2d pixel games, just as I enjoy many other kind of games.

Ignore the hedgehog, the fact that it has learned to type does not make its opinions valid.

That is, wow, yeah it really is pretty obviously wolfy. My mind is still reeling from the state of r/WTF today.

Come on, that was a freaking lame thing to say. Pretty animations aren't all that gaming industry has to offer, y'know ;)

Some people just like the "2D games in pixels" aestethics, for others (including me) there's a certain nostalgia factor. But most of all, 2D games in pixels enable game designers with a low budget and/or modest technical skills to create the game they have in mind. This is, in my opinion, a great thing. Finally, 2D games in pixels may look dated, old, behind the times... but they're never really ugly. Games who go for the pseudo-realistic, modern style with a low budget often are (quick example: Little Racers Street, which is otherwise a fun little game).
So if you actually wanted an answer that's not a flame, here's mine. :)

I don't really care, there are already sh**t ton of crappy games on Steam, we don't need a "PC game pedigree" I hate anime games or games like CoD but you don't hear me bitching about them being on steam. Chances are you won't even encounter these games in the store, if you don't like it don't buy it.

The store is already riddled with "shitty games" & "copies of copies" that a few more coming in from Greenlight ain't going to hurt. I say good on them for getting their game(s) greenlit with a strategy that works.
Ever heard of the saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure"? Well, it applies here.

Customers will decide what is shitty game, and what is worth the price. The developers/publishers have the right to try to sell their product, it's not like we HAVE to buy them. There will be some shitty games in the store yeah, but why does this bother you? If you go into a real life store to buy something, there will be crap quality products too, but obviously you'll choose whichever you like. This is called competition.

I dont mind those, and beside the WGN promoted games are pretty nice one tbh

Valve has indicated an intention to do away with Greenlight soon entirely and open the store to all games. So, yeah.

I don't mind, I like free games.
If it's something that I find interesting, I'll vote and get my key. If not, I'll just ignore it completely or vote "No, thanks" and go back to minding my own business. It's a win-win, really ;)
It is true that decent games tend to be somewhat rare on Greenlight these days, though...

As far as I know, the devs should have no way of checking if you actually voted. So you can enter to get the game but not vote for it if you don't think it deserves to be on steam. That should help discourage devs from trying to get crappy games on steam like this.
