noiseless? wut?

edit: I have a Logitech G600, and it's not noisy, and the side buttons are practically silent, if you love Diablo 3, judging by your avatar, this mouse is great for this games, and cost just 40€ with free shipping.

Is your home so small that it requires that you have your PC next to the bed? Move it or buy your wife some earplugs. Better yet, if she's in bed then join her. Maybe her real complaint is that you play games too much and don't pay enough attention to her but she's using the mouse noise as an excuse because she hasn't figured out another way to tell you.

It's a good thing she's not my wife. She would probably kill me for all of the noise my Cherry MX switches on my keyboard make.

On this mouse I said, you can actually remap the left and right click's to 2 of the side buttons, so you will create a lot less noise, I can't think on anything better really, this mouse has tons of buttons, and the side ones are made from different materials so it creates less noise.

Roccat's Tyon is pretty quiet... not exactly 'noiseless' since the two main buttons give a very silent akkustic response, but.. the quietest I ever had.
Even if you hit the buttons rather harsh, it remains a silent click, different from e.g. mice of the R.A.T. family, which are pretty decent too, but tend to be fairly loud when hit a little firmer.

Another edit to this: you can assign left and right click to the little analogue stick it comes with, then it's absolutely noiseless. (If you only need left and right click :3)

put the mouse and your hand in a plastic bag and tie it(problem solved)

mhm, cause the plastic bag will surely not wrinkle and fold under the mouse while moving... also, a thin layer of plastic doesn't really absorb that much noise, you wizard <3

i have seen some of those "noiseless mouses/mices" on ebay but as far as i know they aren't really noiseless, it's just one more way to sell on higher prices just like expensives brands

You want to have them...some companies like MS and Logitech even try to make sure it sounds just right

Maybe a touch mouse like the apple one would help, terrible to use, but silent.

open up an old mouse, find out what actually makes the click sound, and disable it?
(I've opened up mice before, but never gone after the clicky bit -- usually just to clean wheels and sensors. There usually aren't too many pieces, although it's sometimes annoying to get them all to sit properly again when putting it back together.)

[edit] actually, seems this is exactly what horus896's Instructable link illustrates [/edit]
