I had previously purchased a large amount of Humble Indie Bundle 3 gift codes and I've been passing them around to various people and communities. I thought I still had some working codes when I started a giveaway but the winner claims the codes I sent were already used (which doesn't surprise me). I thought I still had some working codes left but it doesn't look like I do. So I've offered to pay the winner for his troubles instead but he doesn't use Paypal.

I've been asking around for spare codes from friends and stuff but it doesn't look like anyone can help, so I may end up having to shamefully refuse the winner of his prize. It's only been 12 hours so far though... so there's still time for something to turn up. But if worse comes to worse what will happen if I can't provide the winnings?

That's a tough situation, because it affects your rating and he can mark the gift as 'not given,' giving you a bad rep. But I don't really know what would happen on the first 'offense.' And he's being uncompromising, seems like he's playing in bad faith...

How is the winner playing in bad faith? He obviously isn't getting prize he won...And from the looks of it (albeit, there isn't much info given, really), the ONLY alternative the giveaway creator/OP offered was a paypal payment. How about offering the winner a different game via steam gift code?

Do not pay them. We can work something else out.

I'd assume that you'd be banned, yes.

I doubt it. There are active members without 100% received gifts by other users. Please don't assume when you post.

You could gift him the games that come with the bundle. It will cost a bit more, though.

If it's an honest mistake, don't worry about it. You might be stuck with negative feedback if you're unable to work something out with the winner, but aside from that, you're fine.

I've got a few extra ones I've been holding onto until they are no longer so easy to get, you can have one of them if you would like to give it to your winning dude, it has the #2 bundle as well. About to hit the sack so leave a response here with a good way to contact you if you want one and when I wake up I'll send it your way.

I would really appreciate it! He seems like a nice fellow anyways, I wouldn't want him to go empty handed.
Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much! You've helped a bunch! I hate feeling like the bad guy in this sort of situation. It was relieving to hear that I wouldn't get banned, but I still felt bad for not being able to give the winner his earnings. You've lifted a load off my chest! :)

Hm, I have a single spare code for the bundle, if you'd like. You didn't do it purposely, but the winner deserves something.
