Wolf's Rain, Get Backers, Samurai Champloo, Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, Full Metal Panic are some series that are great that I don't think I've seen on this list.

The best Anime I've ever seen is Trigun. Its so badass and never gets boring. Its only 26 episodes from I think 1998 with one movie from 2010. Its definitely worth the time to watch. You'll love it. Also, Cowboy Bebop is pretty awesome if you start from the beginning. Its also 26 episodes and 1 movie.

I'd recommend the aforementioned Trigun, as well as the .hack//SIGN and .hack//ROOTS animes. The events of Roots is resolved in the .hack//G.U. trilogy, but from what I understand they made 3 movies based off it but have differences from the games.

The only anime I've ever really been able to get mildly into are Akira, Full Metal Alchemist and Cowboy Bebop. It's probably my least favorite thing of anything, but those are at least my least least favorites of my least favorite thing.

Just going to name some of the best I have seen so as not to waste your time: Berserk, Inuyasha, Elfen Lied, Claymore, High School of the Dead, Rosario + Vampire, Basilisk, Birdy the Mighty: Decode. These are all pretty action heavy (aside from Rosario).
