Well, I made a giveaway. It ended. Guy didn't activate the game but immediately made a giveaway for the same game. I suspect regifting. Posted on his Steam profile, trying to add him to friends to talk. Bear with me people, I need support, and someone to calm me, or I might call Internet police/get an autistic fit of rage.

Here, a small private giveaway, because reasons.

Won't make another public giveaway. EVER.(I made one...)

I feel your pain because I experienced it as well but don't give in to the rage or you might be suspended as well so first lets do what you need to do

  1. First go to his user file on steamgifts and report him listing both giveaway he made and one you made to show he won yours and made a new one.(Will report it myself too)
  2. Watch him get banned in 4days- 4weeks and ban is only 5 days unless he redeems said game or buys it himself(You should probably ask the guy who marked me as a scammer on my reputation on steamgifts since I got him suspended for not redeeming his game then regifting it and his suspension was reduced to nothing after he had to buy it)
  3. Only make giveaways for level 2+ so only people who follow rules and help community get it(I prefer doing 4+ on level requirement so I know they will respect the rules).

I figure this is a stupid question, but I'd rather ask a stupid question than be wrong. I couldn't find anything about it in FAQ... I probably missed it... I won a game several months ago, activated it on my account (of course)...and I even played it :) (until I embarrassingly got stuck on where to go next...) Anyways... I just bought a bundle with the same titled game. I am assuming It's okay to give this new same titled game away (even though it has the same title as the game I won) ? or would it best (to avoid confusion) not to give it away at all?
By the way, I didn't mean to invade your thread. I'm sorry this happened to you :( and thanks for the GA !

Games can be checked if you have activated them on your account or not so even if you give the same game away and someone reports you without checking you activated game or not the moderator who reads the report will see you did indeed activate your game.(This excludes some dlcs where they won't show up on that list so if you know you have that dlc block it from seeing on steamgifts or don't enter them)

(Noticed you were in private)Also in order for people to check if you own the game you can't be in private but its ok to do that since a moderator would ask to set yourself temporary to public it if you are reported just to prove your innocent also here's a steam calculator which shows all the games people own after you type their id or user number
http://steamcompanion.com/calculator/
and example of me after you type my ID

:( Someone in my house got hacked, not such how or what info got out there, I was getting a lot of spam invites... (I still do even in private mode) Everyone here seems to be comfortable with a public profile, so I am probably being over paranoid. I take it off private to sync of course and whenever someone asks me to. Not much to hide (except I own Secret Magic Crystal and have played 2 hours of it :)

Yea spam invites aren't from being hacked instead those spam invites from level 0 people are people trying to trick to go to a link that uploads a virus that steals your steam password and username so they can use your steam profile and sell all your inventory items and usually use it to scam other people. Also the spam invites will soon be no more steam has announced people who spend 5 dollars and below(usually lvl0 accounts) wont have access to things like adding people so they wont be able to spam add you anymore.

The mods have ways of checking DLC.

Are there exceptions to that rule? Example how come when I synced I still see Play the Mayor: Become the Mayor of Fortune's Tavern on giveaways list despite blocking all games I already own? Thanks in advance for the info and keep up the great work!

Just because you are still able to enter giveaways for some games and DLC you own, that does not mean we can't check to see that you actually do own them. Accepting multiple copies of any game or DLC is a big no-no.

PS. (Blame it on Steam's crappy API.)

Re-gifting blows. But you did set a low level for entry you basically said if you want to screw me go ahead and they did. I am sorry they did and wish they wouldn't have but I set higher level limits because I don't want as you said "scum of the internet" winning some thing I gave. Intended for someone to enjoy.

We really need a 3 strike rule for these douche bags.

  • First offence = 10 day ban.
  • Second offence = 30 Day ban.
  • Third offence = Permanently banned.

Go ahead and make a ticket. It is common for "scum" to repeat an offense, punishments stack, and habitual offenders prompt escalated punishment.

So if he re-gifts once more he'll be permanently banned?

We use our judgement when moderating. It would depend on the situation. As I said, before, however, the mods have limited patience for repeat offenders.

Support should permanently ban the SG accounts that are found to regift/retrade the wins from the get-go.

Problem with that many new people don't know the rules so I must say first time a penalty like 5 day ban and then on 2nd time they do that instaperm ban but most users only do it once at most so they can have access to Level 1 giveaways which are far better then regular ones and the same people would most likely never give out 50 bucks of games to get to level 2 hence why I don't make giveaways anymore for level 1 people.

I agree on new people aspect. But one year or more SG accounts aren't included as new. I've seen those guys regifted/retraded, which is unacceptable to put them as 'new people' excuse.

Yea I hate those espically. The guy who marked me negative rep did regift despite being a user for 2 years lol. I say if you been here for so long and do that then perma ban them.
