I have decided to start a tagging system for car damage and handling. I can't tell you how many "Super Duper Uber Realistic Racing Games" get the cars right, but forget about any type of good damage or handling.
I have come up with a tag system to help combat the car damage problem, a basic "Car Damage" tag to attach to any game using this system and a damage level tag:
Car Damage - Exaggerated
Car Damage - Realistic
Car Damage - High
Car Damage - Medium
Car Damage - Low
Car Damage - Cosmetic
Car Damage - None
I have also come up with a tag system to help combat the car handling problem, a basic "Car Handling" tag to attach to any game using this system and a handling level tag:
Car Handling - Realistic
Car Handling - High
Car Handling - Medium
Car Handling - Low
Car Handling - Broken
I also have a set of games to test this on.
Grid
Grid 2
Grid: Autosport
Next Car Game
Race 07
Asseto Corsa
Driver: San Francisco
Street Racing Syndicate
Test Drive Unlimited 2
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
Need For Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed
Burnout Paradise
Caliber 10 Racing
Gas Guzzlers Extreme
Ford Racing 3
Ford Racing Off Road
Ford Street Racing
BeamNG Drive
GT Legends
GTR 2
F1 2014
F1 2013
F1 2012
The idea I had for this was to select the basic "Car Handling" or "Car Damage" tag and narrow the results by the level tags. Let me know if you have any more games to add to the test list or if you have any suggestions.
A Steam Group I made for this type of thing.
