I didn't win one but just seconds ago 3 copies of Tomb Raider were given out. Turned out the guy made an account quickly and did a fake giveaway. I laughed when I looked how he had a Dota 2 card in his inventory with his full name on it. (some tournament badge).

So I wasted 50p for that fake giveaway.

Lol I saw this too. Every single person that spent his points on that giveaway must be dumb

Because points are way too hard to come by to waste them right?

Sometimes you'll get a legit one. Staff has pointed this out over time even with examples. Is it a risk? Sure. But what do you really lose in the end? Regenerating points. Not so bad. If you think that it's fake then just report it and move on with your life. The rest of us will see what happens. shrugs

No, it means that for every 1 fake giveaway you see, there's 10 more that you don't see.

Implying that those points are actually worth something and can be "wasted" :P

Anyway, the people who enter thsese giveaways dont seem to be that clever...

A lot of them kept saying "Thanks Thanks Thanks" on the comment box not realized the scam was foiled from the first comment on top. I knew but I was like meh. maybe he's wrong. Turned out I was wrong. Dumb scammer.

It's not a "scam" that was "foiled". Most "not received" giveaways come from a user not understanding how the site works, not an attempt to fool people.

yea i agree with this, a time or 2 ive seen odd giveaways and messaged the guys, asking " hi i saw your giveaway on SG and was wondering if it was region locked? where did you buy it so i can make sure" and they would say "bought it? what do you mean? i dont own it and havent bought it, i was just making the giveaway so someone can win the game i was just being a nice guy."

a few ppl ive done this to have said this lol, so its true people honestly think copies of games come out of thin air for people to win lol

I hate it when people call fake giveaways a scam. Like the user is out there trying to profit off of your points or something?

Why are people that enter these giveaway not so clever?

Points are free and most of the time they are sitting there with no use, some people like me decide to use this points for these so called "fake giveaways" and take a chance to see if they are legit or not; if they are and you win... Bingo, you got an AA game, if they end being fake you just get over it and could even join groups for people who won fake giveaways.

Either way, you lose nothing but have the chance to win a great game.

Calling a giveaway fake (as obvious as it might be) seconds after it closed still counts as calling out.

Won 2 fake giveaways, you can only see one in my profile because the other one was removed by a mod or admin, can't remember though.

I entered Call of Duty World at War a while back just to use mods in it (and I could brag to my brother) and I won, but the guy who did it entered one giveaway and then created it... It sucks when you lose to games like that... Now, I wasn't just insanely disappointed, but I would hate to have won something like Tomb Raider and it be fake...

You didn't waste anything, your points were returned to you when the giveaway was deleted.

Right, misread the OP, thought it was deleted. Well, you'll get back your points when it's deleted then.

Yeah. A while back, I won a copy of CS:GO. Turns out the guy was advertising his clan in the description, and after five days, when he finally accepted my friend request, the only thing he would say to me was "no."

his profile is proof to that, maybe you should try messaging him again and saying you will mark it as received if he hurries and gives it to you

I did a month ago. I have since started to evaluate giveaways more carefully. While it's true that the lost points are no big deal, the disappointment was. It was a game I had wanted to try and was excited to have won.
