The game is definitely much better with friends. You can play through the campaign alone and feel bored the whole time, but you can die repeatedly with friends and be laughing constantly.

That´s the reason why my friends and me can´t play this. Instead of doing the campaigne, we just kill each other ^^

Try it with a different friend, or have your friend watch the trailer. Friendly fire is intentionally on. They make a point of featuring this in the trailer.

The humor in that game is great.

They've added patches which correct most of the issues (like permanent saving at checkpoints, so you don't have to complete the whole level again if you die at the end and have to leave the game). If you haven't tried it lately, you might want to give it another go.

Was it because of Ultimate MvC or did you generally not like the gameplay?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Both, it pissed me off because I went to the midnight release and spent $60 on a game that played very much like Super Smash Bros. Not saying SSB is a bad game but I thought I was getting a fighting game and not a button mashers wet dream. Also, shortly after I got MvC3 UMvC3 is announced which could have easily been made as a patch but they thought they would get more money for it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I haven't played it myself but it doesn't really seem like a button masher to me. Fast paced and (somewhat) unbalanced yes, but not a button masher. As for UMvC, well, you should have seen it coming after SSFIV. Capcom has been treating it's customers like trash, they never learn - but neither do some of those customers :(

Call of Duty: Black Ops. At first this game was extremely unoptimized, which was critical for my PC. And after I actually started playing it, singleplayer did impressed me a bit, and multiplayer didn't at all. I've never played this game after I went through single campaign.

Orange Box, what a rippof that was. Seriously, Bayonetta on the PS3. I got the PS3 late and it was one of my first titles. I didn't know much about atrocious ports. The game's still good but... I'll never support a horrid port like that again.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I have Bayonetta for the PS3 and I never understood why people complain about it being a bad port. Did you install it?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think both Eurogamer and Lensoftruth had articles about it. In short the PS3 version had framerate issues, sticking to less than 30fps most of the time, whereas the X360 was mostly 60fps with an occasional drop. Fps is very important in this genre so this had a significant impact on gameplay. To top it off the texture, filtering and shaders were significantly worse. None of these issues were addressed by the patch. The only thing it fixed was the horrendous loading times.

I'll agree you have to find your own thing with the game. It's unfortunate they "released" it in such an incomplete state. Thankfully, Notch (the former lead developer) has stepped aside and Jeb is taking over. He's done a pretty good job, so far, releasing fairly frequent patches and weekly snapshots that add new content. I'm glad to see they didn't stop releasing new context after 1.0. I hope the next thing they work on is a better mod API. It's not that what they have is awful, especially since they hired the guys who went out and created an API from scratch, but it could be better (see Half-Life for a game that does mods right).

As a single-player game, vanilla Minecraft can get stale very quickly. Install mods and it can get MUCH better. The best complilation I've found is Tekkit (for multiplayer) and Technic (for single-payer). Both can be found at http://www.technicpack.net/ and they're very easy to run. Single-player has more features (due to some mods only supporting single-player at this time), but both are very worthwhile. I've found just being able to show off your creations makes multiplayer much more fun.

By the way, I think Terraria (which is actually more of a game than vanilla Minecraft is) does combat and exploration better, but Minecraft has it beat on building.

Call of Duty: Black Ops on PC. Horrible game compared to its predecessors (I found World at War which was also by Treyarch to be a hell of a lot funner). It ran horrible on my PC at the time(2.4GHz Dual Core, 2gb RAM and HD6850) whereas any other new game would run fine, Treyarch paid almost no attention to the game after release, all they did was patch the game which in everyway made the game worse (made joining Nazi Zombie matches or Combat Training matches with your friends impossible), the server browser/lobby system was a bad idea and the weapon/levelling up system is abysmal. It also set me back $100NZD($82USD) as I bought on release. And that's why I no longer play Call of Duty games. Thank you and good night.

And CV is an awful jumper, why would he jump at all? You actually have to jump in a last moment before crushing into whatever is in your way. I've never been that much tired of any other game.
