my schedules are on a table with someone else, hope to don't need to do queue there :D
I never imagined to go there, just for the plane flights and place to sleep it's a tremendous expense, but in this case is somehow an investment, so it's reasonable. Else I would just watch videos from home :)

last year was really bad. dont know what this year ll be it s the first year since 6 years in a row i dont go there. if you want see something about good games like AC you have to wait 5-8 hours to se a trailer or play 5 min and you get nothing. there is no fun any more and too many people there now. i was thinking about to go but this year no way to buy a card for me couse i 3th child was born and no money left atm. maybe next year ;)

I'll be there on thursday and it will be my 10th gamescom/gamesconvention. Most propably I'll be spending most of my time at the indie mega booth and student showcases like games academy. Somehow the AAA productions got more boring over time and I don't like e.g. Nintendo's attitude anymore.
Ten years ago they had lovely showcases for the DS, they were entertaining. But when the Wii was about to be released, they showed nothing but a short trailer. The 3DS was not presented on stage as well. When the Wii U was about to be released, they didn't even show up at all, at least some third parties had the new console on display. Most of the crowd gathering at their booth the last years were there to collect street passes.
Other manufacturers, developers and publishers suffer the same, regular attendees aren't interested to be shown the same F2P title over the course of several years for example.
Sadly, it's not about the games and community that much anymore. There are too many visitors, too many commercial booths for accessories trying to beat each others noise level and tossing out junk and too many of the "let's check out a trade fair and get some swag" types of people. There are parents with toddlers pushing their carts through the massive crowd and exposing the babies to extreme dezibels and light effects!
I miss the old days, where you had developers up for presentations and chat on virtually every booth. Where games were presented live instead of trailers and the presenter didn't follow strict paths and patterns each playthrough. There were rough edges that made the event stand out, it had character. Nowadays it's all polished up and dumbed down to appeal mass markets.
But still, I'll be there, searching for some real gems I weren't aware of yet.

Who's going there?
What shouldn't we miss as gammer/fan and as business [yes, I know this isn't the best place to ask, but who knows the result;)]???
Any info from past visitors is welcome.
past year thread before someone points it XD
