Hey there!

I created a little programm called "Steam Library Sorter". It allows you to sort your Steam library into categories easier than Steam itself does. And now I wanted to share the program with YOU!

The SLS is available in German, English and French (Spanish and Portuguese are comming with the next release). If you want to translate it into your language, feel free to contact me. This would be very very awesome!

As mentioned, I´m creating a little homepage for additional information about the SLS as well as a Steam Community Group (links at the end of this post). So please, if you want to use the SLS, give me feedback about it. It´s my first public release of a self-developed program.

I really appreciate any kind of feedback from you!

--Update--

Thank you all for your feedback so far, you are awesome!
It´s great to see that some of you are using SLS and that it can help you. I will definitely not stop working on this, quite to the contrary, I´m happy that you provide me with bug reports and some feature requests, too.
To let you know what I´m doing and what I have done so far, I created a changelog on my homepage: SLS Changelog. Here you can see what will be added, changed and fixed in the next release and what was done in the previous ones.
I don´t really know when I will release the next version of SLS, but I hope this will be in the next week because I´m on vacation for two weeks in a few days (Italy <3)

I wanted to add something about performance of SLS: In fact, handling a large library (something over 500 Games) takes a bit of time. Please be patient :) I tried to make all background processes visible to let you know that the SLS is working and did not hang up. For example, at the first start, it downloads all game logos for each game and after that the game information (genre, developer etc) from the steam servers which takes some time. Each time the SLS is doing something, you´ll see it in the status bar of the main window or a red loading circle appears somewhere. I will try to make it more efficient in the future.

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application" error when downloading logo for Source SDK Base 2007 maybe its because Source SDK doesn't have a logo at all?

This may be beyond the scope of your project, but I'd love it if I could filter my Steam library by all the information Steam has about games. That is, I'd want to be able to set it to display only, for example, games developed by Valve, games with released in 2013, or games in the Action genre that have either partial or full controller support. This would make it a lot easier to make categories, or it could even make the categories unnecessary (especially if there was also a feature to launch the game from within that program; even if that's not possible, it'd be easy to just look up the name of the game and launch in Steam).

Another useful feature to go along with this would be the ability to add a list of friends and to filter the games by which ones those people also own (useful for multiplayer).

Tried it. Not bad. I found trying to auto categories I disagreed with what games were listed under the categories. Im sure thats just a difference of opinion. Worth a look in.

Could you make a auto categorize option? It would bring the categories from the game's store page. If there are multiple it would choose the most generic option like action, indie, adventure etc in some order so more games are under the same category. I had a program that did something like that so I know it's possible.

Thanks again for all the feedback and help you gave me!!

Uh, have you ever heard of Depressurizer? A very well done program which does exactly the same thing as yours, propably much better. It's been there for ages.

Well, no, I´ve never heard of it before I startet to make my own program.

It isn't much better in my opinion. With some added features, m477h35's will quite easily surpass Depressurizer. Best of all, it supports banner images which in my opinion makes organisation easier. Would you better to browse a list of over 700 database entries in a small font, or a list of easily recognisable banners? Plus, this program also features game information such as genres.

I'm very interested in software like this since I have over 700 games. However, today I was very annoyed since upon updating Steam, it deleted all of my categories! It takes forever. I previously used Depressurizer to categorise everything. However, the interface was quite clunky. This looks a lot more promising. Unfortunately I forgot to backup my Depressurizer database regularly, so my last backup is from September. It's better than nothing, but now I have a lot of games that I need to put in categories.

My problem is that Steam Library Sorter does not load categories that are already in Steam, like Depressurizer does. Please add this feature and I will start using your software. The features are great, and being able to view genres without having to alt+tab between Metacritic and Depressurizer is much better!
