I won't be playing it unless they add the Caspian Border map. The current beta has one map which is the equivalent to Medal of Honor's (Closed spaces, no vehicles) multiplayer. So I don't feel like downloading like 9 gb (I didn't actually look at the size) just for it.

I am having some input lag issues with the beta. Otherwise, looks feels great. Animations are amazing!

I managed to fix it. The input lag was caused by high polling rate of my mouse, it is now 125hz, and the game not remembering my video settings. The issue still exists, but the game is actually playable!

in case somebody encounters the same problem

I'm frankly pretty dissapointed at this point. Sure the graphics and the sounds are great, but the weapons feel so MoH-ish, like toys. I can't say I'm a big fan of the map "Operation Metro", the open area feels like it was randomly generated, no imagination. I seriously doubt I'll be getting this game. I'm still to try "Caspian Border", but judging from the videos I've seen, it really doesn't seem like much.

yeap, u dont need to leave it open, after all, battlelog is just a "fancier" way of showing and stacking ur stats, as they intend to make it's experience as u were on a HQ or something like that.

I mean, is a great idea, just people are not used for it. I experienced in the Alpha, and believe me, it was annoying there, with all the testing and shit. Now is just wonderful

The actual system requirement is just slightly above that of BFBC2.
But man is it buggy like hell.I hope the bugs will be fixed before release.

The CPU requirements are much higher than BFBC2. I get a smooth 60-75FPS in BC2, I am bottle necked by my CPU in BF3 Beta, around 30-40FPS.

Hopefully they tweak the engine a bit for retail release.

I only started with BC2, so I'm not really a BF veteran. But for some reason I'm not enjoying the feel of this game as much. The sounds are lovely, the graphics look good even for a beta. But the gameplay is not very satisfying.

I just wonder why they would release a map so uncharacteristic of the franchise for the beta. I'm aware it's for bug and balance testing, but a lot of people do base their decisions off of the current gameplay

People forget it's a beta. Apparently they've fixed tons of the current bugs in their current copy taht they haven't released yet.

The game is very good but EA has been doing some really, really dumb shit with it.

The fact that Origin is just useless is already a pain in the ass. 100mb for nothing, really: The server browser, the singleplayer menu and the community can only be used through your Internet Browser, where you have to install a plugin in order to see them. The server browser is terrible and there's no auto rejoin, so all servers are full 24/7 because I don't have the patience to sit there all day pressing the "connect" button, expecting to join. Matchmaking either doesn't do anything or it throws me into some korean server with 800 latency.

I don't know who managed to come up with such an awful system. After 6 hours the game was uninstalled, two of those hours being the time it took to install all of bullshit software, three taken to download the game, and one hour spent trying to start the game. Really disappointing to see all of Dice's efforts put into a game being ruined by such an awful company.

Also, all of the Caspion Border servers got removed, so the players are left with Operation Call of Honor Modern Battlefield Metro. Really disappointing.

actually the battlelog is a really ballsy and risky move, you should have seen it during the Alpha testing period, it was horrible. Inaccurate results, messed up lag and server crashes with some weird glitches and crappy functionality. Now it works like a charm.

It is a new ground they are trying to aim, just that people are not used to it. I do agree that with the missing re-connect feature is just weird, tho something that seemed weirder to me was the fact that they removed the Slot reservation from Alpha to Beta, i mean, if the srever was full (32 players) and u tried to join it will put u in queue (like BFBC2) now it just tells u to piss off.

Now, I agree that the combo Origin + Battlelog makes no sense at all, but they do have to compete with a Digital world, the discs and shit are getting behind so they MUST do that, in part that was why MW2 and Black Ops had more sales (Steam and etc). And thats why they made alliances with steam (talking about EA) but if you noticed BF3 is not and will never be aviable trough steam, for the same freaking reason.

But well, regardless of those minor issues (that Is not necessary to say, but Battlelog is in a really early development stage, in compare with the game) I believe that BF3 will be the best freaking shooter game yet invented and the best looking of all freaking times.

Best looking game of 2011* Just wait until we get powerful enough computers for ray tracing on a desktop. Right now it takes 4 servers to run at 20+ fps.

i hope this is true:

According to an anonymous report BF3Blog received from inside Valve, the developer/publisher is currently in late-stage talks with EA in bringing Battlefield 3 to the Steam digital distribution service. The rumor says that Battlefield 3 would be available on Steam just in time for the game’s release on October 25.

According to the report, EA and Valve are very close to reaching an agreement regarding sales of DLC content, which is the main reason Battlefield 3 is not on Steam: Valve requires that all DLC is sold through Steam, while EA would prefer to sell via its own channels. This was the cause of another EA title, Crysis 2, for being pulled from Steam earlier this year.
Many PC gamers have lobbied both EA and Valve to put Battlefield 3 on Steam for a while now. It looks like it’ll finally happen soon.

We’ve reached out to EA and Valve for a comment on this story

After analyzing the data from our first round of closed Caspian Border tests, we have great news for participants in the Battlefield 3 PC Open Beta: the DICE team has decided to bring back Caspian Border for the beta’s final weekend and conduct an open large scale test of the 64 player Caspian Border map.

Please keep in mind that as this is beta we will be stress testing our servers As such, users may experience crashes, network instability and outages as we roll out and configure servers and network utilities. Understand that such potential issues and the testing environment are not reflective or indicative of the final product and that, through your participation, you will be helping to ensure future stability and functionality.

As we are again specifically testing 64-player server configurations, this test will be for PC only. The Caspian Border servers will be available for all PC players to join. Caspian Border will be available starting Friday, October 7th, in the afternoon (CET).
