So I just bought (or pre-ordered) the steam controller out of the steam store and was wondering if anyone else on here bought it? If so, what games are you going to play with it? Do you think there is going to be an achievment for people who pre-ordered it?

I also stick with the Xbox 360 controller because

  1. It works great... (Used PS3 controller before, but in some game I can't map the buttons using PS3 controller... (i.e. Portal 2))...
  2. Already have a great controller, don't see the point of buying another one...
  3. Save $$$
  4. I can just take my 360 controller to friends' house and play with them too... :3

I am seconding this! Also, the Steam Controller looks like it would take quite a bit of getting used to.

Is anybody going the wireless route with 360 controllers? I was thinking about doing this (all the controllers I have for my 360 are wireless) but wasn't sure how well it would work.

I believe you have to get a special adapter that they may or may not make anymore.

They make it. I got one on ebay for $7. It works great.

So it does work well? I'd looked at 'em on Amazon. It would be handy.

I did and it works great, especially if you have friends that come over a lot because there are some local co op games on pc that are amazing.

Ah, so that works too. Great. I'm going to get myself one of these adapters.

  1. Most console ports default to 360 button prompts.

You don't need to map anything if using PS3 controller, just install DS3 tool to make it emulate Xbox 360 controller, and it will work like any 360 controller, anyways I still feel like Xbox 360 is more comfortable, only bad thing it has is the dpad.

Sticking with my Logitech F310. There's no need to get another controller when this one works with everything I have. And it's a lot cheaper to boot!

I have F310, it is not a good product. The shoulder buttons are so.... unpleasant to press. Rumblepad 2 was much better.

I'm going with PS4 or XBOX1/XBOX360 controller next.

Well, that's cool. It works for me and I have no issues with it :)
If you prefer another controller personally, that's fine! ^^

I have the F310 as well right now and I don't really enjoy playing games with it. The shoulder buttons are indeed too hard to press. Impossible to play racing games. It has a weird shape as well.

I might if/when my 360 controllers die. I'm currently more interested in the Steam Link, as I no longer have my computer within cable distance of my television

Will buy it someday. It's not being sold in Brazil yet and when it does I probably won't be able to afford it. So I'll wait to buy it when it's cheap.

True that, especially now that the government wants to tax the internet (probably online transactions and purchases). Brazil sucks sometimes!

Just built my Steam Machine and ordered Steam Controller to ensure I'll be able to play all those games that require K+M. I'm using my Logitech F310 until then.

I'd love to try it, especially that thumbs touch pad. Many people who got to test the Steam Controller didn't quite get the hang of it. But those were mostly press people trying it for the first time for maybe half an hour at max. Maybe it needs longer practice or some sensitivity fine tuning. Or maybe it's just crap, who knows. But I'd really like to know. Not preordering though.

I'm very curious with this controller, and as I can try it before buy it, had to wait for reviews and that sort of things, but I have it on mind

I live in a weird country and I'd have to order it from somewhere else, but am not keen on paying the customs on top of the price. I'll just get a $2.5 controller made in China for now.

Knowing that it works outside of Steam (i.e. on the desktop), and trying to move more towards couch gaming with my normal PC, I've been more at peace with having dropped some precious gold pieces on the early preorder. I bought both an F310 and an F710 last year after a very long time of just owning a cheap off-brand controller that I often had to run the x360ce software with. The range on the wireless F710 isn't as nice as I'd hoped, especially when there's no line of sight, but the controllers are mostly okay otherwise and it's a nice bit of novelty to finally have on-screen button prompts that match the color and symbol of my controller buttons. But often enough, I still have to go grab my mouse (wireless) or keyboard (15 years old and wired...) to give some small bit of input to a game dialog, and every time I do that I remember that I've got the Steam Controller on order. (And that I can probably resort to eBay without much loss if I end up deciding I can't really afford to hang onto it.)

Someday maybe if I have to but I've already got the 360 wireless receiver so I'd have to break/sell/lose all my 360 controllers (or the receiver) and even then I'd probably just get an xbone controller.

Still, if this thing ends up being 100% concentrated awesome, maybe someday on a sale, with a discounted steam wallet card or something.

Too expensive and for same price I can get a PS4 controller, which is better. Already have an Xbox One controller, a Hori GEM Pad(PS3 version) and Thrustmaster GP Xid(Xbox 360 controller)

So maybe later.

I'm thinking about it. Currently I have cheapo ps3 like controller, and I'm not 100% satisfied with it. I can't get it connected to my devices over bluetooth (can't seem to get correct password for it). It does not work on some games.
Hopefully steam controller is going to be something great. But I will only order it closer to launch date. Better spend those money on more games for now (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

i have a 360 controller, 7 years old still rock solid, and a xbox one controller, 1 year old already broken, so if i buy a new controller is going to be a 360 one :c

I'd rather get the new 360 elite controller when it comes out, even if it is overpriced.

The original concept of the steam controller was great. Dual trackpads, a more natural button spread, touchscreen in the middle... But they compromised it. It's now a dorky little thing that excels at nothing.

I liked the idea of the trackpads instead of analog stick (I "hate" those). And a proper D-Pad.
But they changed that...
Now I'm waiting for reviews/opinions, then I might buy one (with trading card money). ^^

Would like to try out No Time To Explain with it.
