So I just bought (or pre-ordered) the steam controller out of the steam store and was wondering if anyone else on here bought it? If so, what games are you going to play with it? Do you think there is going to be an achievment for people who pre-ordered it?

My controller works, not going to spend money on one until it doesn't work, and then, we'll see.

Yep, preordered it. Planing to play Games that normaly need K+M, cause for me K+M is to uncomfortable to play from my Couch in Big Picture. First of all I will probably Start with Mass Effect 1-3 and The Witcher 1-2 and some Daedelic Adventures which I haven't played yet.

nah, using ps4 controller with no problems, so don't need to buy anything else. (:

I made the lightbar look like the bat signal for extra gaming powers

Are you able to play with it on pc? I heard you can only use it if you install a program for it which makes your pc think that your ps4 controller is actually an xbox controller. What do you use?

yeah, I use ds4 then remap the buttons to make sense to me. ^^ it's not 100% perfect, but after a while you don't notice it anymore.

Great :) What games do you play with it? Any suggestions?

I used to play flying/space simulators with it until I got a HOTAS.

Action games like Darksiders 2 are really good with it, games like castle crashers, batman was quite good with it. (: Pretty much everything lets you use a controller now, though I prefer kb+m for most games. Fluid combat games seem to benefit most from controller since combat feels more natural.

Hey, it's just me or do you also think that the R2/L2 buttons are kinda... sensible, easy to broke?
When I use them, they "squeeek" everytime :(

No, mine seem fine.

I've been using my controller for nearly a year though so it might have just worn it in a bit more. (:

Depends on how well it does platformers and arcade racing games. If it works well for them, I might get them, if not I'll just stick with my F710 (which, apart from the triggers, probably is the best controller I've owned to date, the triggers leaves a lot to desire though).

I really want it to play those console shooters that hate keyboard and mouse but where I suck aiming with the controller...but living in Africa it will be a loooooong time till retail stock makes it this way.

i love my logitech f310, which is much cheaper than the steam controller, but i'm interested in trying out both that and the nvidia shield controller. i'll put both of them on my christmas list.

I have F310 as well, but I think it's not comfortable to use. :(

The shoulder buttons (L2 R2) really are too stiff.

LB ard RB? i don't use those much but they seem fine to me. is that the part that's not comfortable for you?

I just checked the buttons. It is LT and RT.

It's too hard to press. I need to use those buttons to play Pro Evolution Soccer and it affects me so much because it's so hard to press. I have to press them with POWER and so causing cramps in my middle fingers. :(

Rumblepad 2 was much better. It's just it's old and I can't find any new replacement, and also it doesn't support xinput.

i use a lot of RT for assassin's creed, and it's apparently loosened up more than LT. i press them with my index fingers which i realize wouldn't work if i had to press RB / LB along with them. sucks when logitech stops making our favorite stuff without a reasonable replacement -- i used to have a mouse with the best scroll wheel ever made...

I was never a fan of controllers, but even if I ever thought about getting one, I'd get the 360 one. And in any case, 50$ is too much.

I ordered it, but more out of curiousity of the construction. I'm curious how the haptic feedback feels and how it performs in various games.

Overpriced cheap-looking gaming controller? People are crazy. If this weren't directly related to Valve, people would never give a fuck about this. Jesus people. This is starting to look like the Apple products. All about the brands.

Also I'm pretty sure, that won't be good to play all the games, which takes the whole purpose .

To be fair, iOS is much better than Android. I've never had a single crash for my iOS.

To be extra fair, I don't support the opinion that, in this case, any controllers is worth 49,99 or more, that is absurd.

Regarding SO's, I never had a smartphone, but like I said, the prices for iphones (between others apple products) are overwhelmingly overpriced because of the brand.

i've had more crashes with ios than android, but i've also had ios longer. they seem about equal to me just with different sets of advantages and problems.

Really? Did you jailbreak?

For the past six months, I literally have to reboot three times for iOS because of OS Updates.

For Android, I needed to reboot.... every three days due to memory leaks.

For clarification, my android is Nexus 5 and my iOS is iPad Air 1.

no jailbreak, but i do use ios a lot more than android. i've only needed to reboot the android once when its screen wouldn't turn on (scary!) but have had to reboot ios maybe 6 times due to apps (usually the built-in ones like the camera) getting stuck. ios has been iphone 3gs, 4s, and now 5s, with most of the problems happening since ios 8. android is nvidia shield tablet.

i really appreciate that android doesn't try to get in your way of using the device like ios does -- i can plug into my computer using a non-proprietary micro usb cable and just copy music directly onto the device where it will be usable, plus i can put in a micro sd card which costs way less than the $100 extra you pay to add that much more storage to an iphone. for me at least there's other important factors besides how often it crashes.

I wanted the Steam Controller. But I won't buy it for 2 reasons: I have no money to spend on Controller and because it use "1 use-discard batteries" (they can be rechargeable, I know, but it bothers me anyway) instead of one "recheargeable battery" like the one PS3/PS4 controllers have.

I get really mad with that batteries. My mouse and keyboard used them. All of sudden they decide to die and you don't have spare ones to switch. I looked for some reacheargeable ones, but I didn't find any, and the ones I used in the past died really quick and took hours to recharge. The batteries on the PS4 controller I have recharge REALLY quick and last for hours. After I play, I just plug it on the PC or use my cellphone recharger to recharge it. Really simple.

Seriously, Valve never disappointed me since this controller. I found it amazing in every way you can imagine. But when I saw the stuff about the "1 use-'n-die" batteries... ;-;
WHY GABEN?!

i prefer batteries i can swap out since rechargables always end up with memories and when they go bad you often have to replace the entire unit. there's battery recycling around here though, so don't have to worry about throwing them away. with rechargables i always end up figuring out i need a charge just as i am trying to actually use it, which is frustrating.

What do you think of it? I've always disliked thumbsticks (while loving the functionality they provide, just find the implementation awkward) and hated touchpads, but for years have believed that touchpads would work brilliantly if they were replacing thumbsticks instead of trying to be a mouse alternative. Does it work well in practice?

the steam controller looks like it would take quite a lot of getting used to. Im already, used to my X360 controller(Which works fine), so why fix replace something that I am quite happy with? Least this way I save money and I don't have to waste time "Adjusting" to those touch pads? It's why I hate mobile phone games, I prefer to feel pads under my fingers....

So, no...i'll stick with what i'm used to.
