Well, it was unexpected. By me at least. I feel strange now.
Interesting that he died in the same year Blade Runner was set - thus the same year his character died.

LadyHawke with Michelle Pfeiffer, that's the one I remember the most because I watched it when I was very little. Wasn't often that he played a good guy though.

He was definitely a great "villain" actor.

And also 75 is nice age. I would be happy, if I can survive here up to age 75...

I really liked him in The Hitcher, good childhood memories, and I really loved him in Hobo with a shotgun, that movie goes way too far.

Aside from the obvious, absolutely loved his Verhoeven roles (especially "Flesh+Blood") and "The Legend of the Holy Drinker". Shame that he's never really returned to his 70's-80's form, but seeing him each time was a delight anyway.

For me it's Soldier of Orange, but I've yet to see Flesh and Blood.

RIP. He was well known and loved all over the world. Blind Fury was among my favorites. Unfortunately time is unforgiving.

I remember him best in The Blood of Heroes, but loved him as Blind Fury and in Ladyhawke too... Well, truth is he was one of actors I liked in every role they played. RIP.

Sad.
He was a really good actor that gave his roles, as a good guy or the evil one, always a special and more deeply touch. That made him different from the, only good looking, Hollywood "favorites".

Master, I have shamed you and your teachings. I will train until I am too tired to train, and then I will train some more, and one day I will come back to you and steal the pebble from your hand.

It's going to be weird playing Observer for a while. We'll keep seeing him in a lot of things for a few decades, for sure.

RIP, Great Dutch.

P.S. Besides his big movies (Blade Runner and Hitcher) i also liked less-known hits like "Wanted: Dead or Alive", "Blind Fury" and "Split Seconds".

P.S. Check out DGM if you haven't, they're a fantastic band from your country. The Passage is one of my favorite albums ever, I can always listen to it without getting bored. First 2 songs from the album https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUMFhUGcCXo :)

Loved him in everything I saw him in.

But... technically his character in Blade Runner died in 2020, since he was built in 2016 and his generation had a 4 year life span.
The movie also begins in november of 2019, so it being january 2020 by the end of it seems pretty reasonable.

That said, RIP Rutger Hauer. Even at 75, he's gone too soon. And it definitely was unexpected for me too.
