I think that animal is off the list.

Bear / Tiger / Fox. I'd love to be able to travel around the world on an adventure with them.

I wish there were an option to whitelist the same person multiple times on SG. Maybe that would be useless in a practical sense, but totally satisfying.

Nah, as silly as it sounds, I wouldn't call taming Putin and putting him into good hands useless. Weird, but not useless)

I just assumed you were too blinded by the imagined satisfaction to bother determining utility. :P
Not that I blame you! The meme factor and the bonus pet bear steed alone seem like they'd make for quite the satisfying result.
...well, okay, I guess those are technically the same thing. :P

Elephant shrews do look like they a perfect choice, I've been in love with these little guys since my early childhood. Still, I'd probably prefer someone more intelligent. Maybe an African gray, but without downsides. While we are at, I'd actually be fine with any pet right now. Maybe even another rodent, I haven't owned any for ages.
That reminds me that it's time to feed an extremely boring Syrian hamster I'm currently babysitting. Fun.

But that's one of the reasons we love them! Although I wouldn't mind a cat that lives with us to be a bit more tame when it comes to giving him pills.

Animals that people have previously managed to tame before aren't off the table. And by tame I mean that the animal would never suddenly snap and hurt you unless you antagonized it, and that you can take care of it without it suffering from the effects of captivity.
I would like an otter, or perhaps a small horde of elephant shrews. They got such cute little snouts.
