It's not just that people don't know the story. A lot of people, myself included, believe that EA's reasoning is an excuse, or at the very least a half-truth (i.e. not necessarily false, but also not the whole reason).

At first I thought you meant there was a secret side on Steam and not a game.

Wow. This thread is 4 months old. Bravo on the rapid, witty response.

To those talking about the subscriptions, I checked out their site and it now says;
"
PAY ONCE. PLAY FOREVER.*
SUBSCRIPTION IS NO LONGER REQUIRED."

Not that I intend on buying the game, given that they had the hide to charge a monthly subscription to start with and it flopped on them.

Well its a different game, and you would get a different experience playing the two, but i'm looking forward to gw2 because its not monthly subscription based, i don't really have the money to pay for a game every month

The game play is on-par to above average but the real thing that will hurt this game in the long run is it's current business model.

A subscription based MMO just isn't as sucessful these days unless you are already a prevailing juggernaut. (see WoW)

Not to mention $50 up front. It's an archaic business model.

It has monthly subscriptions, so I guess I'll never find out if it's any good.

I don't know anything about the game. But finally EA are realising that there can be only one.........................Origin was always shit and always will be compared with Steam. The existence of the service alone proves how stubborn EA are.

$50 and a recurring monthly subscription? When will these people learn? Oh, and no indication on the Steam store page as to how much the monthly subscription actually is. Do they want me to buy their game? I doubt it.

That's a shocker.

Someone, somewhere, has lost the plot/over-estimated consumer stupidity in a big way.

It's ok, but too expensive imho. So I'll wait till F2P.

It's turning into "pay & play" like Guild Wars 2 soon, if I'm not wrong.

They already have dropped the subscription, the game is on Steam's front page. :D
I'm really excited about this, the game looks awesome but I would never have paid a subscription for it (or for any other MMO for that matter), so now I will have a chance to play it. :)
