Should the advertising block be moved?
For me, when my page loads, the Enter Giveaway button moves down so if my cursor had been on the button prior to full loading it'd be above the button instead of on it. But the page loads too fast for me to be putting my cursor on there anyways so it's a non-issue for me...
I honestly don't think the ad's there to be manipulative of how the site loads or anything. It's there because it's a visible place. I have whitelisted this site on my AdBlock so I see all ads here but I don't find them intrusive at all. (I just wish it'd stop giving me ads for Pampers diapers on every single page. I DON'T HAVE A BABY god damn it!)

Same for me the enter button moves down when the game image loads so if I do manage to click early (mainly on mobile) I end up clicking through to the store page on steam and not th advert.

I may have been brash on stating the adplacement being manipulative. The way the buttons load on mobile bug out frequently. The giveaway button will look like a bloated square and won't revert to its normal size until clicked/tapped. Afterwords it'll revert to normal but read as an advert click since it is so close to the giveaway button.

I figure the images is what is pushing the advert higher than its final placement. Although sometimes the giveaway button is much larger than its proper size and won't change until clicked/tapped. This causes the ad to load as the giveawy button turns smaller/longer and is replaced with a tap on the ad instead.

I'm pretty new and use this in downtime, not trying to be a leech. I put up a game i had and have a few others I'd like to give away if my personal friends aren't interested into them first. I'm looking forward to join some groups here in the community. I think its great that a place like this exists on the interwebs! :3

My side on mobile bugs out the buttons frequently, causing them to appear 3x larger. After waiting for the page to load, nothing will change until the button is tapped. Resulting in it reverting to its original/normal state. Resulting in the click activating the ad loading in its place.
(I've tried reloading the page as well and it fixes it have the time, I'm sure most of this is bug related)
With the ad being connected next to the most clicked button on the entire site, i have a little biased view when it comes to ad revenue/web traffic. I fully support advertising to help support site maintenance, just in a little less than deceptive way from my perspective.

ah, so it's only on mobile?
then it might be a bug indeed.
you should post which OS you use and which browser, maybe the admin can take a look and replicate the issue.
btw, have you tried zooming in and out? maybe the elements in the page fix themselves with that.

I've tried reloading the page and results in a 50/50 chance fix. Changing the size/view perspective doesn't do anything. I plan on taking pictures and sending them in for bug review along with my phone specs.
I'd like to help and contribute what I can to the website, I think this is an amazing website and a really cool community. Thank you for your suggestion.

I agree with clicking on a PC. Unfortunately with thumbs and sometimes buggy loading mobile side. I get a 50/50 ratio on hitting the button or the ad.
I'd love the ad to stay and help support the website, i just feel its placement is a deliberate. It could be anywhere else on the page, yet it is within milimeters of the most clicked location on the website.

Well, I have no experience with mobile so I can't say much to that. But since it is the first time I hear of it, it may be a problem from your site. I'm pretty sure CG does not try to trick anyone especially since he created a feedback thread at the time the ads were integrated (http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/KmuMC/testing-ad-units).
I would say you can post there but the thread has been closed since there apeared no major problems. Have you friends using Steamgifts on Mobile. So you can ask if they have the same problem.

I see, I'll read into it and gain what information I can recieve and apply it further if possible. I'd like to suggest moving the ad just a bit further away from the most clicked location on the site. (Add another site specific directory or image) Having the clickible ad right underneath is not there by coincidence.
I appreciate you helping my out Adelion.

Looking throughout the comments, most all of them share my opinion. Especially the suggestion of placing the advert "under all the clicky parts".
Unfortunately they placed it inbetween the 'clicky parts' instead of underneath.
Too bad the thread was open only as long. Could have recieved much more input.

Yeah this happens quite often on mobile but i don't mind closing a tab so...

More times often than not, when a pages is loaded/loading and I click the 'Enter Giveaway' bar the lower advert moves upward just enough to register is as a click on the ad instead. This is an obvious deceptive placement for the advertising to recieve more web traffic.
If steamgifts needs advert money, placing the ads in a more unitrusive manor would result in less people using add-ons or software to remove it.
I don't mind adverts in place to help supplement the site being able to run. I would just wish for them to be less intrusive and manipulative. If the ad box is not moving from right underneath the 'Enter Giveaway' button, I'll be setting up an ad blocker to remove it permanently.
If anyone else shares this grievance, please comment on your opinion.
