Long time ago, I put a TF2 item for a ridiculous price ($25.01). I think it was my first item in the market and I was just testing it.
This morning, I somehow sold that item at that price (as you can see here).
Now my question is: can the buyer get a refund or ask for a chargeback and get his money back?
Now I'm afraid that the buyer could do something stupid to blame me for his purchase, or that Valve could consider this a scam attempt or something.
The worst part is that the buyer's profile is private. Steamrep says his profile is clean and he is level 30, but it might have been a misclick or someone could've hijacked his account...

From my knowledge, refunds on community market items are generally impossible, special exceptions may be done in a case of an account being hacked. To be honest, a level 30 account is most likely not retarded and is protecting his account, however the private profile is somewhat suspicious.

I just re-checked and it is not private, but "friends-only". I guess the guy really wanted the item, or he misclicked it :p

I've had people randomly purchase my item for a higher price twice, honestly I feel it could be just a random act of kindness, highly doubt people can missclick in such situations. :D

I consider PUBLIC profiles a bit iffy myself... ;-)

Then again, the only reason I'm somewhat against private profiles is because I play csgo, so whenever someone is suspicious and also has a private profile, I assume they're a hacker.

I was getting a lot of random invites from TF2 players who wanted to trade with me. Since I don't play TF2 anymore but I really liked that hat and I was tired of getting these request, I put it in the market to make it "disappear" from my inventory :p

I'm a novice at this stuff, but I sometimes park an item at a high price (so it doesn't clog up my inventory), perhaps if it's from a recent release and I don't know which direction the trend will go, and I might forget to check later what a reasonable price would be. If someone were to actually buy it at the "parked" price, wahoo for me!

I managed to sell a RRDDD item a while ago for ~$7, now it is much cheaper ($3 I think). It also took me a long time to get rid of it (1.5 months). It was the only one in the market, so I guess the buyer bought it to resell later, but he failed :P

LoL. Nice. I'm curious though, how long ago was the item first put into market?

The normal refunds policy doesn't apply to items on the market. I know a few people got refunds in the past after account hijackings or whatever, but the current policy is a lot more strict and basically amounts to 'we put steamguard and all these other lovely measures in place - if you still managed to get hijacked/scammed then you must have bypassed multiple warnings and we have no sympathy or obligations'. And also why would somebody hijack somebodies account just to buy an overpriced item on the market?

So basically enjoy your new found wealth! It should be fine! God bless crazy people!

TF2 market doesn't work like that, just check this link: http://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/440/Vintage%20Physician's%20Procedure%20Mask

You have to buy manually the items, no need to type the price :p

They can't get a refund. When you buy on the market, it says this:

By clicking "Place Order" you agree that you are being provided with immediate access to this digital content and that therefore any possibility of a withdrawal from this purchase ends – the purchase is final.

It is up to the buyer to make sure they're paying the price they want to pay. Once they hit that buy/place order button, there ain't no going back!

Congrats on the luck. Go buy an awesome game. :)

P.S: My bother used to use a avatar ridiculously similar to yours. So every time I see a comment/thread by you, I do a double-take ahaha.

I managed to get Dragon Ball for $8.49 (price error) and I will probably get SRIV ($6) + Killer is Dead ($4) and something else.

Your brother likes Braid too? My dinosaur has eyebrows and it is green :D

Nice! Gotta love being able to get games you didn't expect to get.

And he does, yeah! He runs an indie game site, and Braid has always been one of his favorite games.

I prefer your dinosaur to his.

Any chance your mask was level 0, perhaps? Otherwise, that's just silly. Still nothing to worry about, I've done a lot of market transactions and only had 2 reversed, both from that fiasco when Valve screwed up a new currency.

no, it was a regular level. It had a TS paint (errr... the one which changes colour depending on what team you are, Red/Blue)
