lets hope we can keep masks as a part of our culture so people wear them when they get sick. also great if your super allergic to pollen like me. go outside once for 20 minutes and ill been sneezing all day or wear a mask and be fine

That would be fantastic, but I can tell you for a fact that's not happening where I live (Sweden). Here people don't wear masks regardless of Covid or not. I really don't get it. Whole country full of dum-dums.

In France, people wear them because they don't want to get fined but 50% of people wear them under their nose or as a beard (you can't smoke through a mask), completely negating the use of it. Then they pull them up when they see a cop or something, with their fingers directly grabbing the mask so yeah dumdums are everywhere.

I know, right? Just before the lockdown started in 2020, I was waiting in line at the supermarket and ofc there was a big shelf filled to the brim with bags of candy right near the cash register. There was a kid, maybe 7, with his grandmother. I swear he must have picked, licked and discarded 8 bags before his grandmother even reacted and what did she do? She put the bags back on the shelf.
Did she tell him to stop? Did she explain how it was probably not a good idea? Nope.
When they're very young, it's hard to explain but at a certain age, that's when life long habits take root so, people, teach your kids.

my dad and a friend of mine got their first shot last month because they're pretty old / at higher health risk and that's it.
my sister got some priority paperwork from her employer because she works in the food industry but it's more useful when used as toilet paper.

didn't enter the giveaway but congratulations on your vaccine! i've been fully-vaccinated for about a month but am still wearing my mask in public because i have children at home who aren't old enough to be eligible yet, plus i don't want anyone worrying if i'm one of those selfish idiots who doesn't want to get the vaccine or wear a mask.

Uhm getting a vaccin is no automatic pass for not having to wear a mask anymore (atleast certainly not here) only when your government says so, here 10 million people out of 18 got their first shot atleast, but we all still have to wear a mask till atleast september (which is fun with 30-40c).

the rules around here are fully-vaccinated people can go wherever they want without masks, but i definitely wonder how much of that is trying to incentivize the anti-vaxxers to actually get it and how much of it is that people are fed up with having to live differently to accommodate this virus.

My gf is Portuguese and I honestly thought you guys would get your act together before France but nope, I got the vaccine first.
I am really surprised because in 98% of everything I have seen so far the Portuguese and Portugal have been much more efficient and organized than France.

I think the vaccination was delayed because in the middle of the process the government decided to put everyone connected to the schools to take the shots first. And for the rest of the population, vaccination was somewhat delayed. And there was the problem with astrazeneca... and then everything was suspended for a week(kind of).

Oh right, my gf told me that they were vaccinating teachers and everyone in the school system a while back.
I found that really odd because kids are supposedly not at risk but hey I guess the government knows what they're doing (do they ever in any country??)

I have taken both my vaccin injections, and without open information about the vaccin and the trials that are being done you cannot expect other people to take the vaccin too. The fact that these researchers have proven that (at least in vitro) the spike protein enters the nucleus is information that should be freely shared.
I have taken all my vaccins, even the ones against influenza.
You know as a person working in this field that you cannot compare the apples that were the traditional vaccins to the oranges that are the mrna vaccins.
All research, good and less good should be freely shared about this vaccin. It still has to prove itselff effective and safe in the long term, and the only way foreward is through transparency.
People should not be blinded, that will cause them to think no research is being done at all, and conspiracy bullshit then gets a chance to cultivate.
Of course I hope, just like you do I expect, that this research will be repeated and peer reviewed, but untill then I hope that people see that the vaccin is being researched independently all across the world, and researchers are not being silenced.
for that reason, sharing existing research should never be forbidden.

The word is "vaccine". And every medical substance in existence goes through a long trial before its even remotely possible to bring it to the market. And the apple-oranges metapher is pretty useless in this discussion because you can (and should) compare different vaccine-types.
I am not addressing you personally but I am really tired of internet warriors that have a biochemist/virologist education of 3 google searches and 2 youtubes videos. Most of them only read headlines and forward 2nd or 3rd degree sources.
As you said, the paper speaks about in-vitro experiments, so there is no evidence for this in normal cases (in-vivo). In addition, mRNA is very fragile and gets degraded within a few days (same with the produced full-length spike protein).
You can ofcourse share "new" scientific findings but whats annoy me to no end is the way you did, "I got my vaccines (no mention what kind of vaccines you got; [mean people would even question if you got any at all and just saying it]), now I am regratting it link drop". You could say more about backgrounds but you intentionally left out the important points here.
So basically what you are doing here is anti-vax propaganda facebook style. I won't stop you from it, just stating that its a very shitty thing to do leaving out crutial informations to influence people (on a topic that you may also not understand very well).
PS: Just to reiterate, I don't attack you in anywhere and just want to point out the general problem with uneducated interpretation or sharing of source material that is not understood completly (and the following problem resulting from it -> chinese whispers).
