100 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up (unlimited) for $125 a month plus i have HD tv and phone

traditional dsl (before hacky technology like bonding 2 connections or new wiring methods) usually is about those exact maximum capable speed... 7mbit down 0.768mbit up
you can see what your internet is using, just follow the wires from your computer to the outside world (well, also look at what the modem is)

Uh, I think it is not in my case.
I am using the cheapest pricing plan so it is what I get. The speed I get is exactly as the pricing plan they promise.
There are some "internet only" plans with same download and upload speed (higher and more expensive than my plan), And it uses same cable and modem. So it is different than traditional dsl.
So I googled again about my ISP, and I was right, it is fiber optic.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, so that customers who need higher upload speed have to upgrade their plan, and more money for the ISP.
Gladly I don't need high upload speed, as all I upload is just college task or images.
It just that I can't broadcast my game for more than 15 minutes T_T
Comment has been collapsed.
why 15 minutes? speed is supposed to be steady, it just means low bitrate (ugly quality)
your internet upload speed is measured in the same unit as the settings in your streaming program, so just subtract a bit & use that as the encoder setting

I'm using Firstmedia too BOLT 4G, lowest price with among the highest speed in our country.
I'm using the Rp 300,000.00 ($25) with quota 20GB day + 20GB Midnight,
The speed can reach +8 Mbps in my experience.
Comment has been collapsed.
8 Mbps is still far from highest speed in our country.
My uncle is using Playmedia from MNC.
14Mbps for both download and upload and Cable tv + all channel including HBO, fox premium, etc for Rp 250,000/month.
I'm thinking of switching to this one.
20GB is more than enough for one day, unless you download bluray movies all the time.
And it is cheaper than mine T_T.

That 40 GB quota is for a month or less to me >.<
http://www.boltsuper4g.com/isi-ulang-paket-internet.html
The newer game mostly take about 10 GB or more.
Dunno about Playmedia, but I won't be so sure if it is cheaper and better.
Most internet provider here is horrible it did say 20 Mbps, but in reality like one provider I know it can be <100Kbps
So far Firstmedia is the most stable one.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, Firstmedia is the most stable and the best I have ever used.
But that Playmedia is true, I have tested the speed with speedtest and it is truly 14Mbps for both down and up.
And the channels are complete.
I heard that it is still promo, so the price might increase after several months. Dunno.

It's wireless
But I'm in the central of my capital city, that not a problem.
Comment has been collapsed.
it's a problem, you cannot compare wireless internet to dense urban fiber optic cables that are connected to the backbones of the internet (that are more fiber optic cables)
nobody in this thread is talking about cellular internet, let me tell you, the quotas in north america are more like 2GB per day for a higher price (usually including phone minutes)
wireless or satellite makes sense for rural areas, or people that are always moving, they are not about being cheap
you need to look at wired prices as that is what you were comparing in the first place (xfinity)
Comment has been collapsed.
there is no 'best', people have different needs & price points
if you consistently use 100-200gb, & arent in a rush, there is nothing wrong with a 300gb limited plan if the price fits you
the other issue is competition, even within the same country, different areas have different prices due to availability of technology or competitors (also geography, USA is huge, it's unfair to compare with south korea, the only comparison is google fiber rolling out in specific cities)
i havent even started talking about ping times & speeds outside of your country, there are parts of europe where sure you get great speeds... until you leave the border, then you're throttled... or if you're again in south korea, everything is awesome until you have to connect across the pacific ocean
by the way i was paying almost $100 for 6mbit unlimited not too long ago (they were trying to kick people into limited tiers), on a different provider there is 30mbit unlimited for almost half the price, on another provider you could have the same for twice that price
anecdotal users & random plans from specific cities arent a good way to analyze the situation

I'm from biggest city and capital city of my country.
Just want to do a research, I was trying to search better provider but find none.
I see in news that our internet is the cheapest (someone claim to be so), so I go ask.
Comment has been collapsed.
the news... especially televised is nonsense, it will really make you stupider due to how they talk to the audience & inject emotions
who actually says it's cheap? in what way (compared to salary or other bills)? there are different competing technologies that cause different price points, what is the country? what is the cost of neighboring countries? does it have to go through a large body of water or mountains to connect to the rest of the world? how much is phone service? are the prices you used coming from the main providers (ones that own the system) or is it even third parties (ones that pay to use the main provider connection to then sell to people)?
edit: just saw, indonesia.... you have to compare with others like philippines, i have also heard that australia has pretty standard speeds with bad monthly caps, similar to your examples
another interesting question... have things improved over the last 10 years? i remember having 1mbit maybe 20gb cap a little longer ago than that (on the same 6mbit provider i mentioned)
Comment has been collapsed.
If it is compared only to every countries which more pricey, then it is not the point to compare in the first place.
I think it become better since we got 4G not many years ago.

85+ Mbps both ways average and DVB-C TV for about 13€/month (12.78€ or 14 USD on today's exchange rate).

$120 for phone/tv/internet
internet is 150M Down, 50 M Up - No caps
Comment has been collapsed.
The thing about that Xfinity deal is that it's a $35 introductory rate. Meaning that after six months the price will increase. And continue to increase every six months until you deal with their horrid phone support to complain about it.
Comment has been collapsed.
In which country do you have such archaic deals? We can get 100 Mbit/s for around 20 USD, with no BW limitations.

24€/Month for 24Mbps (I get only around 9).
It is unlimited and the price includes a landline with unlimited calls to other landlines and 2hours on cellphones.
The problem is not my damn Internet but the lack of South European servers. Most people barely give a fuck about us down here :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, here in Russia I pay 550 Rub for 7 MB/s unlimited (and full 10 MB/s at nights). In fact, the speed is cut in a half when connecting to the USA server, for example, but I think it's just natural, right?
The ruble is weak now, so it's only about 7-8$.
And I should also note that it's pretty cheap price compared to other providers, so it may be up to 15$ for 10 MB/s in average, given the current exchange rate.

capital city of AUT | provider: UPC-flat | 75 Mbit/s² & 7.5 Mbit/s up | for 27.50€ = 30$ p/m
works good most of the time | ping ~ 8, no package loss ... Mbit/s = Mbps²

20$ for unlimited 2MB internet, i download at around 300kbps, data caps are the reason why i cant sleep some nights </3.

I'm paying $80/month for 30 Mbps / unlimited
Base price here is $67 for 10 Mbps (50 Gb transfer limit)

10/5 with no quota for $40 a month. But I live in the middle of nowhere :P.
Comment has been collapsed.
It depends. Unfortunately, until the whole surface of the Earth has been covered by fiber optic cables, your internet speeds will depend on how far away you are from the centers of the available ISPs :-P
I get 30mbit for $42 (38€). To get 50mbit, I would have to move to another area in town. I could get the 50mbit plan even here, but I would only get an attainable speed of ~35mbit due to distance from the center, so that wouldn't make sense.

Aint nobody got time waiting for cables, balloons are here to take over!

I'm paying $153 a month for like 1000 digital channels, unlimited long distance phone, and 100 mb/s download / 20 mb/s upload- Comcast on East Coast.
The internet plan is called "Blast" and by itself its like 60 bucks a month starting out or something. Comcast is pretty awful but it's the best speed per cost in my area so I'm stuck with it. They recently rolled out a "trial" data cap of 300 gb / month, with a 3 month "grace period" (even if you go over no extra charges) The reps I talked to said that it was to test and see how much usage there was in this area. When I asked them what would happen if the majority of people would go over the cap in this trial run and they said that if that were the case they would suspend the cap again.
But you know how reps are, they usually just want to get you off of the phone. I realize I'm getting ripped off. It started out as like 79.99 a month then slowly raised and settled at 153. I cannot wait until Google Fiber comes around here.
Other options in my area: DirectTV internet which is below 1 mb/s download and century link dsl with is roughly 2mb/s download. My friend had century link phone + internet and was paying $130 a month. It's highway robbery.

I just recently browsing about internet provider,
I see this http://www.xfinity.com/internet-service.html
$35 a month with 25 Mbps speed unlimited
You see my country BEST (Best speed best price) internet provider cost about :
$25 with speed 8 Mbps/1 MBps max at night, with quota 20GB day + 20GB Midnight
$50 with speed 8 Mbps/1 MBps max at night, with quota 55GB
My government said that our internet price is cheap, but I don't believe it one bit.
Out of curiosity what is your internet cost and speed?
