I played this before Steam. It's okay, but not really my cup of tea. When I played, there were tons of hackers.

I remember trying this a while ago and there was so much recoil that hitting someone was basically impossible... Might give it another try now that it's on Steam.

All shock aside. When I played combat arms it was great, I even spent real money on it a few times. Then with hacks being released every couple weeks, I gave up on it.
If its on steam and hack free? Hot damn! I do recommend it.

Wait, is it still full of hackers from like a year or so ago. I used to play it and it was full of hackers, you had to be really lucky to get in a lobby with no hackers.

This game was so big shit... totally unplayable. CHEATERS EVERYWHERE. On almost every server, killing you with knife through walls from 100 m. Developers even couldn't do a shit about it for months (years?). Very few updates, it also really requires you to PAY for stuff, because without that, the game is frustrating. You can't own weapons for lifetime without paying.

As many others "FREE" it costs 10 times more than normal game. I played it only, because I hadn't money for sth better.

Of course with Steam VAC the game should be better, but I still do not recommend it.

Play Tribes: Ascend instead. I played this around a year ago and it didn't particularly appeal to me. From what I remember, it is cash shop heavy. Weapons/armor/gear w/ in-game currency is purchased on lease, ranging from days and weeks, similar to All-Points Bulletin. Prices are pretty high in comparison to how much you earn playing matches though. A lot of cheater accusations and the like, but I guess that's common in these kinds of games.

It's just region locked on Steam, you can still access and play from the official website. IMHO, not worth it, Blacklight is so much better.
