[spoiler alert] this blog post explains why the walking dead nailed choices in a largely linear adventure game. it was linked somewhere on my rss feed a while back and despite not having played the game yet, I read it anyway.
As a fan of making choices 'matter' to the player, I'm looking forward to playing the game and grasping the limits of the style that I oppose.

I disagree with some information in that. Most decisions will not affect the end of the game or some parts that are meant to happen. But, it changes how it gets to that end.
[SPOILER] For example, if you kill Lilly's father, she will not help you to kill a zombie that's trying to kill you. You end up killing the zombie? yes, but that part, the game shows Lilly just looking at you disappointed. She has a rifle in her hands, she has military training, but yet, she doens't shoot the zombie. The game doesn't have major effects on your decision, but even with the small actions from the NPCs, it's still nice to see what you did actually caused a reaction and effects on other people.

they didn't nailed anything.it's an illusion.a frikkin gimmick.spec ops:the line which was also mentioned in that article summed up nicely just how absolute in terms of morality and meaningless in terms of the story choices in video games are.Anyone who wants some great commentary on the state of video game storytelling should try that game out.

"And the most surprising thing is, telltale released a DLC with a lot of new content and didn't charge a dime for that!"
What? Isn't 400 Days 5 bucks or something?

But they never said you'd be able to change the storyline...all you change is how you experience the story, which if you ask me, is a really good choice...here's why:
That's how I look at it o.o

Wait for the daily Steam update (or whatever it's called).

Liked it but I guess not as much as others. I don't see what is all that "re-playability" - the choices didn't matter so no point playing it twice. And there were no "omg omg, what to do?" decisions since nothing mattered :(
Still, like this game

Well, that depends on how you considered that "nothing mattered". If you play with that idea of no mater what you do, it's going to be the same, then it will take a lot of the fun from the game. But, if you play paying attention to details, then you will see a lot and will enjoy more the game.

I recently finished this amazing game, and I must say, I'm impressed! I bought this game as pre-order, but I wasn't really excited, as the start is a little bit boring. Then, last week, I decided to play it until I finish it.
The first episode was good, you meet some characters from the series, not too much excitement or action. (thats why I didn't play it when I bought it).
Then, for the remaining episodes, it was just so awesome, every hard decision I was like "omg omg, what to do?" and with the timer for you to take your decision, and the impossibility to save the game at any point you want, and not being able to go back to last savepoint, makes every decision final, which is incredibly exciting.
The puzzles are not hard at all and there aren't many of them, but that is compensated with many other good features the game provide.
And the most surprising thing is, telltale released a DLC with a lot of new content and didn't charge a dime for that! Good game, free content update and high replayability, the game reminds me of the games from my youth. I really like telltale games, but after playing Walking Dead, I will blindly buy any game they sell in the future.
If you haven't played this, I strongly recommend it! Even if you don't really like point and click games, it's still worthy.
Cheers!
( by the way, no hidden giveaways here :P )
