Did I mess up?
Yeah, i wonder what "magical" ingredient they pull out that eventually there won't be a shortage anymore, when it's a resource problem, and there are more resources running out and also those products becoming more expensive as the demand just grows. especially when more and more things will have chips.
Also they didn't see this coming years ago?

well luckily I'm a proud PCMR so buying a console never comes through my mind :D And even if I were to I'd rather go Sony, although I've heard that PS5's availability is not that great either don't hold me to that, I really don't know, just something my Sony-nerd friend said I'm really not in a market for consoles
about the disk sizes, I'm not sure upgrade would be so hassle free. You're limited to only the shortest SSDs and I think you can only use single-sided ones so really finding something that fits, doesn't break the bank and is of good quality might not be so buttery smoooth as grabbing an SSD for your PC... I'm also considering the "anti-glare glass" as portability of Deck is a big thing for me so having it more usable in adverse lightning conditions is a considerable bonus.

I did my preorder July 19. So a few days after it was announced. Or about a day after I heard about it. lol. I also did the top one. Everything I've seen and read since says I made the correct choice and you did as well. I'm looking forward to it. But my expected date is not until Q2 of 2022.
You have lost nothing. If you change your mind the small deposit goes back into your steam wallet. So lots of time to cancel if it comes out and everyone hates it. But based on various places that have gotten actual hands on time with it. It will be very good.
I need a new PC. Mine WAS old and it died. This one is parts of even older ones. I can't run any higher end games. High end gaming rigs will be hard to get for some time yet to come. The Steam Deck will arrive before I can get a good system. Perhaps the Deck will be my future gaming system and I'll get a good but not top end PC in the future.
Since you just did it now.... What is your estimated Date?

I think it means we are both at the end of the line.
I don't expect the timeline to be updated until after they have started shipping in Dec. We might know more in Jan. My guess is that all estimates after the first couple days of orders are very general. I'm still very much looking forward to it.

i dont know, im sure would love to have one
but realistically what would i even do with it? i cant remember the last time i used my 3DS or PSP (both rdy for emulation)
it not a bad purchase, and can be liquidated easily. but im patient and can wait few years and see how its going.

well, that's kind of a talk I had with my friend yesterday :D he's got a 3DS that he's not using 'cause he says "whenever I game, I game on PC, so I'm affraid I'd just keep gaming on PC instead of the Deck" I on the other hand own no handhelds pun not intended and recently I'm finding myself more and more in situations where I'd like to game a bit 'cause I got some time to kill, but I'm out and about so I don't really have a PC handy. I'm torturing my phone for the time beeing but mobile gaming really sucks...
I was gonna wait but in the end I was too affraid of the Steam Controller scenario...

Heh review, the guy that has a ps4, xbox one and a bunch of other consoles he even barely touches because so many games on steam.
Although this is STEAM deck, but i think the most benefit is gonna be that you can use it outside or in bed right before going to sleep. Already got a coffee lake and 2080TI for normal steam, so yeah maybe overkill, but:

Jeez, why are the models so much more expensive for just a little bit more storage? Can you manually extend it?
You basically pay up over β¬130 for a 256 GB SSD. Those normally cost under β¬40. You're being ripped off, bracie.

well, consider that given Steam Deck's size you can't put in just "any" SSD. You're restricted to only the shortest ones (which is like 30 or 40mm iirc) and I think you can only have single-sided modules. I'm not really in the market for m.2 SSDs so I can't really say if the ones meetnig those criteria are also "under β¬40" but I suspect they might not. Also there's a lot to an SSD and knowing Valve I doubt they'd be putting the cheapset ones in. But all in all I did it for that virtual keybard theme! lol j/k I didn't!

You are in Poland then. How is the currency treating ya? In other words, did the regional pricing benefit you or not?

tbh I have no idea. It's not like buying it elsewhere (and for a different currency) was a reasonable option so I didn't even bother.
Chcecking rn converting from USD I'm paying about 20% more, but given exchange rates vary and importing comes with loads of taxes and stuff I don't think it's that bad. Also, don't they have to add the tax themselves in the US?

Don't know, UK based, but recent arrival here too.

I was a little reluctant, but given my previous experience with the company and some preliminary "reviews" I figured I'm gonna pull the trigger. (See the attached picture now). Ask me anything. Or something like that, dunno. I'm kinda haapy, excited and fearfull as that's a lot of money. Just wanted to share.
No, I can't afford it. I mean, I can afford it, but it's like eating all my savings and a little bit more. I won't be pulling out and I'll keep it going, unless God forbid some major sht happens.
