I am working on a city builder that is simulated down to the smallest detail.
These are exciting weeks for us, because we were just at Gamescom and have a public demo going on.

Circle of Kerzoven is a charming settlement-building strategy game paired with a rich simulation experience. Every animal and plant tries to find their place in nature while you lead your villagers to their future.

Unique deep simulation of the nature in a building strategy game with complex interdependence between humans and nature.

Manage simultaneously the acquisition, refining and distribution of resources on multiple maps in different climatic conditions.

Manage the needs of the citizens. They are โ€œaliveโ€ and have a specific home, workplace, and unique needs. Animals are looking for food, get thirsty, sleepy, and form social groups to find their place in nature.

Seasons and climate affect the gameplay, as certain plants grow only under certain conditions. Temperature affects humans, animals, plants, and the environment.

Create own maps and scenarios in the editor and extend them using mods.

I am always happy to try a new city builder (:
I'll download the demo and try it later today. Screenshots looks nice.
I would focus on the mechanics that make this game unique, maybe the holistic nature-human approach? That way your game can stand out.
I'll give you some more ideas later, I hope.

Wow, what a great start!
I am not much of a discord person, so I'll write my thoughts here, if that's ok...
Game is really nice, works pretty well and holds great potential. I think you are definitely in the right direction. Are you working on this by youself? If so, this is really amazing.

  1. It was not intuitive to find the info I needed all the time, for example finding where I can see my overall resources, or who works where. I assume the UI will need some more work to see what works best for players.
  2. The amount of randomized traits in the world is really nice, but for now it is just that: a bunch of randomized and not very interesting info. If there was some edge to it, let's say some more randomzied events based on traits, rare traits, breeding mechanism, actual appearance and in general more systems that rely on traits rather than just numbers running in the background to calculate if someone is more or less happy... That would be a blast. I think this should really be a priority gameplay-wise to make this game stand out. I would take inspiration from games like Rimworld, but I think you set up the stage to make it even better than that.
    Also, another related issue I had is having too many people at the start of the game. It was too overwhelming to even consider going over their personalities one-by-one.
  3. I am yet to see how the "holistic" approach with the ecosystem works, but I hope that will be more apparent in future updates.
  4. Procedurally generated maps would be probably a feature to look into.
  5. QOL: \dragging when constructing roads instead of placing them tile by tile
  6. Maybe some overlays would be helpful to visualize different kinds of info on the map? I would say Tropico would be my example for a game that has such very recognizable system.

That's what I can think of right now...
