Help! I can't find Red!

133 coins so far. Killed some Giant Rats and a Lizardman recently. Teleported a bit. Let's hope I find a merchant or something soon. And yes, no treasure with more than half the map explored.

I also found a bug. Some items when you get them you don't get any text at all to indicate you found them. For example this happens almost always with explosive vials. Suddenly you see them in your inventory. It has also happened with potions a few times, but also with more rare items such as the phoenix vial. I'm always checking text so I'm sure there was no text indicating I got them. Playing with firefox if that helps and it's quite laggy with the firewall here. Disorientation was a pain in the neck.

Energy Vampire's Staff doesn't work? Clicking on it but nothing's happening, and it's status is ready.

omg not another disorientation with this laggy internet. It seriously is the worst accident in the game :P Does energy replenish while disoriented? I can't really play it out with this lag so I will have to leave it for hours.

The part "You are disoriented!" is so annoying, can you make it easier? Got stuck and can't pass it, seem like there are 2 rooms in a row like that, I can't escape, :'(

For the disorientation thing, i would rather it be like a spinning wheel, and you just pick a time to stop. Gets really annoying to even pick 1 of the options.

I mean i get what you're trying to do, but it's just user-unfriendly.

Wow this was REALLY creative! It was really fun to play until I ran out of energy lol. Does anyone know if this game will last long or if there are others like this they made?

For the record I'm playing with Chrome now (just got home from work at last) after your suggestion and I keep finding explosive potions all the time (6-7 now) and none of them created text indicating I found them. :P

PS: Time to drink some potions and make the extra mile.

Same thing happened now with teleportation scrolls.

I have one question. HUD tells me that i found 2 treasures, but i managed to see only one, Is there any menu to inspect all gathered treasures?

I actually can finish the game now (95% of map explored) but will refrain to finish some side stuff and see what they are all about. xD I do suspect that also means going to get my revenge from the bookworm. xD

Edit: Damn I got all my artifacts near the endgame. 4 almost in a row. (now 6 including a hammer) Character has become invincible now. :O

This was really great. I just dragged it out to kill all monsters and also make sure I missed none of the treasures.

PS: The only annoying thing was probably the concussion part, those who found it know what I mean. Must have drunk more than 10 hp potions and spent half an hour on it lol. And I just needed 3 hits to connect. Good thing I had saved those 10++ potions but that was overkill at best.

Ok small suggestions for next time (maybe) : (minor spoilers ahead read at your own risk)

1. Add one or two more floors to make the game last longer. I loved the side quests but I wouldn't say no to more content to last for more days. :P

2. To make it compensate for those without enough time to finish it in that case, you can increase the chances of treasures to at least triple or quadraple the chance. That way, all benefit, and won't get bored while exploring etc. (well it's not boring but just saying) I mean it's not that logical to do the whole game and get 0 treasures like some of us did. Right? :P

3. Add a button for basic instructions explaining the very basics of the game and navigation. Many people had questions about that. One page with a few bullets may be enough, your call.

4. Add ability to keep notes on map on desired grid

5. Class specializations if you have the time with different perks/weaknesses

6. Maybe introduce a minor XP system for all those creatures and quests, instead of relying purely on items?

7. Add ambient music if possible. Personally, I enjoyed the last hours of exploring by listening to winamp: Anvil of Dawn's OST (Classic oldschool dungeon crawler with great atmosphere). You can also get ideas from Stonekeep/Grimrock or other similar grid crawl games.

8. Increase the difficulty a bit by making potions certainly more expensive (also limited number per visit/respawn after a X number of time), adding maybe more creatures, and lessen the chances of finding energy potions. I mean you do realize what we abused and what endless loop we did and finished the game on 2nd day. xD The coins on this floor were just too many.

9. Disorientation/Concussion: maybe make it a bit slower, and consider making some boss fights more strategic (that specific one was only annoying). How about creatures that are too powerful to be killed with physical dmg but have weakness to fire or poison for instance (triple dmg vs spiders or something?) (introduce extra throwing potions for that matter)

10. Realistic idea that is a staple for all good rogue-like games: Before drinking a specific potion for the first time, you "don't know" what it does so you take the risk. You have to drink one of each kind, before they are identified, so that you "learn" what you are drinking. Imagine drinking poison or an explosive potion or a giant's strength potion (!) Unpredictable fun !

Those are just thoughts, keep what you like, discard the rest. I know it's not easy, and this was amazing for just one developer, so cheers ! A great mini-game indeed !

Wow, I'm so overpowered now. Managed to beat a bandit with 0 energy with 3 hits without using any potions whatsoever.

It really is a lot of fun to explore the castle, it's a shame that I didn't have enough coins to get more energy and now I have to wait a bit. I actually liked the disoriented part and it makes sense that you would waste a bit more energy checking the same walls over and over again after getting hit by a falling part of the ceiling. xD Really awesome game, I probably won't be able to be among the first 30 to beat it as I didn't manage my energy very well.
