Really looking forward to seeing if this will work for free weekend games (right now they still count for me). I don't see why it shouldn't since I don't own the games. Just trying a game out shouldn't mess with my percentage imo.

Yeah, I hope they include free weekends, demos with achievements and perhaps family share games too (if they will tie it to licenses). Only problem with that is games included in some subscription system like EA Play. They already made some changes on the API though Steam Support especially said that they cannot talk about API.
By the way, I already admire your completion rate, even though I'm not much of an achievement hunter.

Thank you :) At a rate this high just a few free weekend games make it really difficult to increase it. I'm also scared to try out new free weekend games since it will mess up the rate completely. So I'm a bit passionate in making this happen.
It's mostly the 100+ visual novels I've read

You know what, you can message Steam support about this issue and tell them you don't want to try new demos on Next Fest events because they'll mess up your completion rate, I know they're already working on the feature but maybe this will be one more motivation for them. :)
Hehe, I owe my 4% increase to VNs as well. :)

How to remove a 100%'d game from steam / your completionist showcase
Step 1: Download your unwanted game
Step 2: Use s.a.m (steam achievement manager) to reset all achievements and stats in said game
Step 3: Play the game until you unlock your first achievement
Step 4: Immediately close the game
Now after a couple minutes you should be able to check your profile and see you have successfully removed all associated stats from showing up in your completionist showcase and you can now remove the game from your steam account without leaving a trace.
I have tried many different things and this is the only way that works.

No thanks, I will wait Valve to fully implement this feature because I have deleted ~1000 games and not gonna try to find them one by one again.
SAM (mostly) can do both ways so you don't need to download the game. Also this doesn't work for Trivia Vault "games", not that I have those in my library though.
Comment has been collapsed.
I actually did not know that, but on the other hand, I rather not use SAM and just get it fixed with Steam itself, though consider that Steam thing doesn't work on free games, SAM couldn't be a good one for that I guess? Though weren't there games that could get you in trouble if you use SAM on that game?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, it can get you into trouble if the game is VAC enabled. Also never use SAM when you are actually playing a game for the same reason too, especially VAC enabled games. Even though it's tempting, I wouldn't risk it for the free to play games.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah for now I just leave it as it is and will see in the future, VAC games are tagged with it so you know when you can use it but not a fan of using such things, though still think Steam should just make their service better so we don't "have" to!
Comment has been collapsed.
Technically resetting achievements via Steam console is possible but since it has to be one by one it's not practical. SAM is just doing this in mass though it's not a Valve product and can trigger VAC.
Well, at least they're working on some quality of life feature even though it doesn't involve deleting achievements, if they won't show up on my profile I don't care honestly.

Wait, we can remove games there too? I thought it logs every game you had and cannot be changed. It seems I have now more things to do. :/
Internet Archive used to be useful but since the last change of API, you cannot list anyone's games publicly anymore unless you log in, which means Internet Archive cannot pull them. Maybe you can ask Steam Support to make you an all games list with the permanently deleted ones for your account.

If you go to Games at your profile and then click a game you own/owned, at the top right it shows Settings, Status, etc. and at the most right you can click an X if the license is no longer on your account. (hope I explained it right).
I guess I will just never know unless I add all the games I removed back and well, am not doing that so for now I will leave it as how it is ^^

It's marked as "reverted" on the announcement so I guess it explains the change in my stats overnight?
Anyone else seen weird numbers?
My perfect count jumped from 101 to 103 to 107 (all the while my completion rate dropped a point so I'm guessing a new new calculation method went into effect?)
And now back to 103 lol.

I guess Valve is trying something, in Valve Time. Mine was back to previous state months ago and never changed again and last time I contacted Steam Support about this they said "This is a new feature, it might not working as expected" so no idea when they're gonna fix it. And apparently it works different for everyone, like yours.
Comment has been collapsed.
If they fix it like they are working on notifications, it's going to be a while.
I'm not an obsessive completionist so I haven't kept a proper record of my own and since I've been trying to do better with achievements, it's hell of confusing to do that counting on their stats.
Oh well, at least I'm back to something closer to my calculations today after I 100% another game.

For me it's not even completion, I just don't want to see the games I've deleted on my profile. Yeah, it'll probably take a while since this doesn't seem to be a priority.
I also hope they improve the API and we can see DLCs individually, that would be beneficial for SG as well.

I think it has to with certain games getting the ''Profile Features Limited'' added or removed on the store page.

Guys I want to add my experience with this feature. I think it doesnt affect playtime. Or probably It doesn work for games deleted before they added this feature.
I saying this because I removed blackguards like one year ago. But if I check on steamhunters or similar achievement tracking websites blackguards is still there with my Playtime even if I cant see it in my library anymore.
What do you think about it? I thougth removing a game permanently meant that I removed every trace and history from.the account. Instead something Is still registered.

It actually worked at one point, when they made the update public. Though they reverted that and afterwards it worked differently for everyone. For me, it's in the original state for months and I can see all of the deleted games under my completed list and they don't even have a link to my achievements because they can't since API doesn't report those games anymore.
Basically we're still waiting Valve to update the issue.

I am wondering if does It work with games removed back in the days. For games removed nowadays probably you have to wait fornthe stats update. In my experience this takes sometimes

Ok, I just made an account to be able to comment so I can post my story about this.
Just like many from here I am also obsessed with the AGCR and everything around stats and achievements in Steam.
I don't have many games but the ones I have I like them to complete to the possible maximum and get the lovely "100% Achievements" badge on the games artwork before I jump to another game. Usually I have around 2-3 active games that I try to 100%.
Back to the stuff I want to share:
Long time ago (when I didn't knew how actually the AGCR system in Steam works) I played F1 2017 as a Free Weekend game to well, just try out the game, and did I big mistake unknowingly - I unlocked the first achievement (finish one Time Trial lap, or something like this) which got stuck TO THIS DATE on my profile, even tough the game got removed back in 2017 when the Free Weekend was over.
After trying how to remove this one achievements for I game that I don't have in my Library I figured there is no way, and then just said fuck it I'll just buy the damn game and 100%'d it! Then I saw that the game is no longer even available on Steam Store, and I had to buy it from a 3rd party website for a hefty price. I was so obsessed with the AGCR that I did buy it and did 95% of achievements. There are two more achievements left which unlucky for me are extremely grindy.
Then it happened... I started to see some weird changes about my AGCR stats, firstly I was confused, and after researching I figured out that around 10-15 achievements from CS:GO disappeared! I used to try out this game long time ago as well and unlocked those achievements and thereafter I removed the game permanently from Steam, but those achievements also kept being stuck on my profile until this point!
I was happy because CS:GO was my second, and last game that I had their achievements stuck on my Profile and I also planned to download the game again and start unlocking all of them! But after seeing Steam removing them was a big surprise and relief! :D
Now my ultimate question is: Will Steam remove the achievements and alter my AGCR from F1 2017 as well if I remove the game permanently via Steam Support?
I guess the answer is that actually nobody knows since they keep working on it and changing it constantly in the past 10 months, so the only way to figure out is to remove the game from Steam and see myself, but then the question is if I remove it WILL I BE ABLE TO RESTORE it via Steam Support (just like someone here mentioned) if the achievements wouldn't be removed, because the game is no longer even available on Steam? Or if not, when I buy the game AGAIN from a 3rd party with a hefty price, WILL THE UNLOCKED ACHIEVEMENTS BE RESTORED BACK?
That's a lot of questions, I know, and It's a long post, thanks for reading, I am holding my eyes on this for years, and just wanted to share my experience on it.
If anyone has any concrete answers on this please let me know since (surprisingly) there is not much talk about this change on the web. It's only been mentioned with one post on Reddit, a few on Steam Forum and here which is the most informative forum for this change.

Hi and welcome to SG!
Regarding removing the game via Steam support question, achievements don't go anywhere, they just won't show up on your profile. If you restore the game they should be back. However if a game is banned from the store and no longer have a store page, you cannot restore it (Maybe support can do something about that, no idea). On the other hand, banned games don't reflect on profile anyway.
For games that removed from sale but not the store, deleting and restoring them should be normal just like any other title. Normally Steam warns you if you try to buy a game you deleted before, so I would assume you probably cannot use another activation key even if you deleted it from your profile.
However, it might not work at all since they still haven't finalized this feature. Valve likes to take things slow and we all take it with salt. :)
It's either they prematurely made it public back then or something went wrong. And Steam support won't say anything about the details anymore so no one really knows.

Thanks for the reply!
So what would be your suggestion:
OR
I just don't want to grind this stuff, it's so time consuming. But I also don't want to end up buying the game again once again for around 100$ if I the achievements don't get removed from my profile and/or the game is not restorable via Support!

No problem!
Cannot say anything about achievements really since the current state of the feature is still unknown. They might go or might not.
However I checked F1 2017 on the support and it's there, it still has a store page. So restoring it shouldn't be a problem in case of achievements don't disappear. I don't see harm in trying.

hey, is there any updates on this topic?
maybe Valve has something like roadmap with features for their client?
Comment has been collapsed.
Sadly no raodmap but Steam Support told me to follow here for client updates. Valve time is really long. :)
I believe this is part of privacy updates and they haven't made all of them fully functional yet, there are bugs etc (for example, if you 100% a game and delete if afterwards, it will still show up on your perfect games list. But you can mark it as private, even though you deleted it).
Comment has been collapsed.
understood, thank you for reply!
hopefully there is still a chance of them fixing it :)

Heh Valve time is like dog years. When they say they'll get right on it, it's a year so when they don't give a roadmap, you have to multiply by 7

Hi!
Currently we can mark games as private but that would only hide those games from others, you can still see them.
There is still no new development for the original issue. Steam Support don't want to share about how things going with it, so they told me to follow here for the news regarding this.

New games view is out of beta and the achievements from the games you don't own don't show up on your profile anymore. Which means you can get rid of those pesky achievements (like those Trivia games) by permanently deleting them. It's a nice step up in my opinion.
Edit: Not an official announcement but could be useful for people who saw this thread more recently. (Thanks to @IronKnightAquila)

Edit 2: It was a bug, see here.
Edit 3: It's not a bug, it's a feature (yay!). See here.
