Have a weird bug. I had 199 perfect games about a day (or two) ago, now only have 198. But on the game list there are 199 games. I'm missing 146 achievements too, so it has to be Hitman 2 (my only game with that amount of achievements). I haven't deleted it from my library (and I checked, it's still there), so no idea what's going on. Haven't seen anyone mention this in the game's discussions either.
Comment has been collapsed.
Found the reason and the fix. It happened because I removed Hitman 2's free prologue from my library and later bought the full game on Fanatical, and apparently it wasn't the same appid or something. I "restored the game" and now it counts towards my stats again.
Comment has been collapsed.
Never quite got the idea of removing games when one can simply hide them from the library, similarly I don't quite get the fixation with achievement percentages, I pretty much only go for 100% when I REALLY like a game and/or getting all achievements is fairly doable by making a little bit more effort. To be fair my favorite achievements are the "game won/finished" ones and the ones that ask you to do something funny.
Still, this new thing actually makes perfect sense to me tho. If a game gets removed from the account by the hand of its owner keeping the related achievements doesn't add up.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's the same as the idea of selling/throwing away things you no longer like... If you just shove your least liked shoes into the back of a closet, you'll eventually have to go to the closet for some reason or another and you'll just be reminded of all the trash (to you anyway) you hid, haha. Which, well, whatever, but also, why not keep the closet for things that bring you joy? Although you can argue that there's difference in space, physical items you get rid of because else you'd have full house, with digital games, I suppose it's not as easy to run out of space, esp. when you're just dealing with hidden licenses.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's actually one of the parallels that I never quite got, real physical objects take real space and one has to see them eventually even if they're hidden away, but that's not the case at all for licenses on a Steam account, I have to get out of my way to see all of the things I own in Steam. It doesn't even work like files in the hard drive where they consume memory space, they're just tiny bits of data granting access to a download button, I can literally hoard an infinite number (not really, but you probably get the point) of licenses without it having that much of an impact since I mostly use categories and the search bar to manage my library.
In short, it's so easy to ignore/neglect a bunch of games that it doesn't seem worth it to me to go ahead and remove them.
Comment has been collapsed.
You're right. Not everyone goes onto their profile to look and see what they own. I do, mostly because my library is a mess since I have a friend sharing their games and I never remember what's mine (should work on my memory probably lol), and I can't find an easy way to filter them out. Because I do play some of them, right, so up to my playshelves they go... I also like the profile view more because every game has the same sized picture, right, and some games in the library don't have a nice "long picture" and that kinda bothers me, it's very stupid and I could just upload new picture anyway, but then that's not original and I like original things haha.
Also, re your other comment, storing collections in boxes is not that weird, that just makes the items last longer, if the box was stored properly. You were just an advanced kind of collector as a kid! Which is quite admirable.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hiding makes them easy to access anyway, which brings up some points raised by Pete on previous page. But hiding also doesn't remove them from the count on the profile. If I'd have 800 trash shovelware that I added because I was young and stupid, and there are 200 games that I actually play and enjoy - I may want to delete trash to see on my profile (and show to other people) only games that I like.
Comment has been collapsed.
Seems like a valid argument for those who actually like to show their collections of games to other people, unlike me who only has it visible because I can't be asked to hide it (and can't because of SG's rules anyway). I guess it's similar to those who put their books and/or DVDs in a visible shelf to show them off, while I just stash them away wherever I happen to have space, preferably out of view. Reminds me of how when I was a kid I collected model cars, but usually just stored them in a box instead of displaying them, maybe I'm the weird one.

I lost around 19 perfect games and around 1000 achievements thanks to that
EA Play subscription games
😢😢😢

Comment has been collapsed.
Well the EA play games are not ones really owned by users, those users "rented" them. I guess there's a number of different ways to figure how that works in regards to achievements.
Comment has been collapsed.
I mean, family share games are kinda like rental too, player doesn't own them. If someone plays Trivia Vault via family share, only way to get rid of those achievements is buying and permanently deleting it. Same thing for EA Play games too though. I think Valve'll need to address a couple of things here.
Comment has been collapsed.
There's achievements and then there's AGC. I like this "change", so far I have only removed Free to Play games that I have no intention of playing again.
If this really is the way Steam will be working in future, I may remove some shovelware games I will never play again. Playing some garbage game just to try it out and getting one achievement or a few tanks your AGC. Seriously I have one thousand hidden games, the vast majority of I did not pay for.
There is no official post from Valve about this so who knows what happens from here on out.
Comment has been collapsed.
It is though. There are a lot of people who started out not being achievement hunters and whose account are now locked out of 100% completion rate because they have played games that have broken achievements, multiplayer achievements in dead games, demos etc
Now you can get rid of these if they're screwing with your completion rate.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not a fan. Ive removed some of the F2P games that I 100% so now my completion score and games has dropped on my profile. pretty mad tbh.
Comment has been collapsed.
You should try adding them back to your account just to check if you can get back the achievements as well.
Comment has been collapsed.
I tried that right after I commented. Didn't work at first but a few hours later it did. Couldn't find/remember all of them but then again they could have been removed or profile features set to limited. The new layout looks beautiful though so I'm already over it lol
Comment has been collapsed.
I wasn't hoping for any results cause I wasn't asking them for the change. It has its pros no doubt cause I surly used it to remove a f2p casino game I played when I first made my account.

This was just a bug. Achievements from games removed via Steam Support now count once again.

Hi Mitsukuni.
Thank you for your concern. We have processed your ticket and as you requested deleted all your achievements except one per game.

I contacted Steam Support about this and got a reply:
Hello,
Thanks for contacting Steam Support.
That games license user requested to cancel does not reflect on the profile is the new change working as intended. However, if the issue you've encountered is different, please describe it in detail and send us a screenshot that shows the problem clearly. Once we have more information we'll be happy to investigate further.
If you need help submitting a screenshot, please see our Saving a Screenshot article.

I guess we can use this as an official explanation to say that whole thing was a bug sadly.
Comment has been collapsed.
I guess the only option is left removing achievements via console or for multiple, SAM. Then delete the game. I'm too lazy to find out those games unless it's a 100% game which is easy to find but too bad I'm done with deletion. -_-
Good luck finding those games.
I wonder if Steam Support can help with that since this was kind of a misdirection even if involuntarily.
Comment has been collapsed.
Must be, well, hope this time the info is correct and it's planned but broken and not just broken :P
I mean I have games I know I will never 100% and that is fine, but having played some games that I didn't like in the end that dropped them always feels so... ugh!
Comment has been collapsed.
It's seems there was a misunderstanding since they corrected this message with this new reply:
Hello,
Sorry about the previous message, we were not as clear as we could have been. We meant to state that when you cancel a license for a game it should no longer be reflected on your profile. This is an intentional update. As it's a new feature, you may experience intermittent issues while we work on perfecting it.
If you have a game that you've cancelled still showing somehow, please let us know.
Steam Support
Anthony
Apparently this is indeed a new feature but doesn't work correctly at the moment.
Comment has been collapsed.
Is it meant to block free weekend achievements as well? There are a few games I played during free weekends that are still counting for me.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah if they're not sure themselves they probably can't answer that question. They'd probably want to implement this, since free weekend achievements make achievement hunters reluctant to try new games.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's a fair point. With this little preview they showed we can say it will also make achievements from subscriptions (like EA Play) not count. Though according to some feedback here it didn't affect family share games. So if they tie this to licenses they should also be affected. Without that no idea how would they implement this to free weekends, but I agree they should definitely include free weekends.
Comment has been collapsed.
I contacted support and they told me that even if i remove a game the achievement stats will remaim visible on my profile. Your support message says "cancel a license" what does that mean. This is just confusing at this point.
Comment has been collapsed.
Can you share what your message to support looked like? I want to see I could perhaps get the same responce
Comment has been collapsed.
Sure. My first message was this:
Hi,
Recently there was an update about Steam profile games view as you know and when that happened it removed the achievements from games that permanently deleted via Steam Support. I was really glad about this, however it seems they are back now.
Was this a bug or is there a possible study about this? If not it would be a nice feature and I think I'm not alone to think like this.
Thanks and hope you have a nice day.

Their last message is:
Please accept our apologies for the delay in replying to you.
Unfortunately, we don't have any new information to share with you at this time. The developers are still working on changes so we may see intermittent issues with this feature.
Thank you for your understanding and patience!
It seems something unexpected happened and they are fixing it right now.

Same response was given to me when i used your message

Their last message is:
Thanks for reaching back to us.
The issue is continually being addressed through Steam Updates. I'm sorry that Support does not provide any information on upcoming or planned fixes.
Have a nice day, too. If you have any further questions, please let us know - we will be happy to assist you.
I closed the ticket. It seems when it's done it will be here.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, the way I read this is that games you remove shouldn't count, so couldn't figure out how you decided that meant it was a bug, but they clarified in their next response, I guess.
Comment has been collapsed.
Okay, but then in their response they said it was working correctly when the removed games weren't showing up, but yeah I think it would have been hard to state it in a more convoluted way that first time, haha. "That games license user requested to cancel does not reflect on the profile is the new change working as intended." It is really... Um... Well put from support. XD
Comment has been collapsed.
so do i understand correctly if via support page i will remove f2p Pixel Puzzles Ultimate where i have 73/2486 cheevos (2.94%),
sorry if this is confusing, because it is for me :)
also what happens to my owned DLCs for this game? will they stay registered on the account?
Comment has been collapsed.
deleted Block N load where i had 11 chevos.- my chevo count stayed the same (these 11 included)
DLC is still shown on store page that i own it
Comment has been collapsed.
I deleted couple games that I didn't want to finish. Number of achievements decreased and overall completion percentage increased. Really nice update for me because I'm a completionist. I would never uninstall those games before completing them 100%.
Comment has been collapsed.
My average game completion rate increased again yesterday back to the number I had a couple of weeks ago. But this time the number of completed games I don't own are been counted.
Or maybe I'm not that good at keeping track of all this. XD
Comment has been collapsed.
You were right. Those achievements from deleted games are back. I hope it will be fixed with the final update. I wish I knew when it would be.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's definitely a nice change, but unfortunately it can't be used for games that were deleted from steam store. For exemple, I wanna delete all my achievements for "Marvel Heroes Omega" but the game closed years ago. The game is not in store anymore, not in my library and not in my licenses and product key activations but still I own all the achievements I completed for the game.
Wish there was a way to delete all of them.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, last they said about this was "The issue is continually being addressed through Steam Updates." but no news since then. It might be they prematurely released it or something went wrong.
Comment has been collapsed.
My average game completion percentage went up again.
Comment has been collapsed.
I was checking and came back to this thread - it seems it still doesn't work yet.
I clicked on "100% games" on my "Achievement showcase" and I still see all that crap games I deleted... years ago now.
Maybe I should just use SAM to delete those achievements by adding back those games and deleting them again, if it works
It will be harder to remember games I didn't 100% and deleted anyway lol

Looks like they are working on it. But it still doesn't say if we can expect it in like next 1-3 months or years xD
Comment has been collapsed.
Valve time strikes again I guess. :)
At least this is another confirmation, hope they can finalize it soon.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think it's a win win for everyone since removing a game means that you will have to pay for it if you want to play again . Steam might see some people buying again a game to 100% and achievements hunter like me can get rid of games with unobtainable achievements . WAY better than sam that i previously used but deleted every single achievements i gave myself by shame ( it was only 50 out of 2000) but still a great news
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually removing a game doesnt require buying it again as you can restore games the same way it can be deleted. So you can delete then if you come across it in the future go you know what lets replay
But maybe people will stop downloading games for the sake of it showing up on their profile then complaining cuz its a steam learning game. Its a been a thing for so long and people still thing games are bugged its insane! But I don't do that myself so it wouldn't surprise me if they keep the game on their profile anyway because it seems like a sin to delete thing
Oh you are new. The calling of deleting achievements really summoned you, you are with your people here
Comment has been collapsed.
i am not really thinking of uninstalling but really delete it from account with the support page. i did this for some of my games and need to buy them back . however i hope that the activity of the game will disappear with achievement to truly clean everything on my steam page
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes deleting through support, then restoring through support. My library is to big to have them all installed to remove that way but there are probably some who could, that would be insane. I've deleted and restored over 100 times (really not exaggerating here probably under estimating). Some games don't like it if its to familiar of a name like the room though but its possible to bring back some delisted games assuming they have store pages like written in the sky
Comment has been collapsed.
Permanently deleting a game via support page doesn't actually permanent and you can bring them back again the same way via support. What I understand from this future feature, they will just cut ties with the achievements and the profile, if you undelete a game later, the previous achievements you obtained shall return.
A little anecdote though, if you bought a game in a bundle you cannot delete a game alone without the bundle as well. Just for this case, if you want one of those games back but not the other ones in the bundle, you should buy it again without the bundle.
Also, welcome to SG.
Comment has been collapsed.
There is a special place in hell for those people, one game tied to more than one bundle sucks. Support cannot delete free to play games because they're in everyone's library, just not surfaced until you play them. Maybe someday they'll introduce something like deleting playtime but I highly doubt that, would be nice though.
It's also bad for games you payed (or activated a key) then they went free to play later, since they're F2P you cannot delete them either. It's ridiculous, I deleted Just Cause 2 but cannot delete JC2 Multiplayer Mod because it's free to play and it doesn't work without JC2. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Yh I got multiple wins from the pixel puzzle series (including a dlc now but not counting) so there's no possible way to for me to delete them without deleting the wins. Gothic above is attached to my elex so if I like elex i'm stuck with that! Steam needs to stop adding games without permission.
I know I got at least bundle I cant remove like the castle crashes + battleblock theatre but that's fine for me. That blue fire void maker did the same as above. I'm pretty sure I remember it just appearing one day!
Sometimes its nice the add on, like receiving the remake of 60 seconds when you activate the game. Or maybe one day you hope to get a vr so getting a free hellblade is perfect but that also means well you are stuck with bonus things. Once or twice of a thing doesn't matter but it starts adding up and its really annoying going onto blaeo and seeing like 10 games questioning my stats
Comment has been collapsed.
I too have left some games to delete but cannot because of SG, we'll have to accept them as a mark from the past, at least for quite some time. :)
Yeah, putting some game as a tail to other one shouldn't be a thing. I assume Valve's not letting us to delete them by license but by purchase because of some US law!? Otherwise it shouldn't be a hard thing.
To be fair, those bonuses are a good thing but they should be optional and it's easy to do, just put them as a free DLC on the market and if someone is interested in they would get them anyway. Either this or let us delete by license.
Heh, BLAEO's not helping indeed. :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, the Steam support said it was an intentional update however developer team is still working on it to perfect it. My guess is something unwanted happened and they're trying to fix it. Or it could be just Valve taking things slowly as usual. :)
They also stated that it should already be working but might not work for everyone, though haven't seen it actually works for anyone yet.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thank you!
I got a few games that I started but didn't enjoy and then rushed through it just to finish it so I could forget about it, this way you can just remove it and move on, am not just talking about my 100% status but also having half games on my profile I will never want to finish!
Comment has been collapsed.
Are you sure about this? The only games I ever removed from my account were free to play ones and I lost around 90 completed games and my achievement percentage went down by 5%.
As an example https://store.steampowered.com/app/449020/The_Bottom_of_the_Well/ is free to play, I removed it and no longer shows on my list of games 100%.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, that's what Steam support said to me at that time (my free-to-play games are still lurks on my profile btw). If it also works / will work for free-to-play games too, not gonna lie it would be delightful. I guess you're one of those lucky people that it works.
Comment has been collapsed.
I noticed the change in both games completed and achievement % about 4 months ago, since then I made sure to keep an eye on it and it never went back up or had the removed games show on my profile again. Guessing it's either a bug and the feature isn't working properly or support doesn't have a clue but since they still show for you, it's likely the former.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's kinda partially actually. Today I deleted some games and achievement count went down a little. When this feature was new, my achievement count went down to ~5000, now it's 8000+. It worked for a short time, then it doesn't anymore. Maybe I should try un-delete and re-delete games because it worked on freshly deleted ones. Feature but buggy. :)
Edit: un-delete & re-delete doesn't work.
Comment has been collapsed.
Steam Support said they cannot take away what everyone has and everyone technically has all the free-to-play games, they just don't appear in your profile until you activate them. Basically, removing them from your account only removes them from your library which they won't show up anymore. And sadly it also doesn't work for once paid then went F2P games. So not because of the complications but what Valve chose to do I guess.
Happy cake day by the way. ^^
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, this feature too won't remove achievements, they will just not show up on your profile. If you unremove a game they will be back. If they ever make permanently deleting games really permanent, they should delete achievements and stats as well, however they don't do this because its exploitable.

New games view is out of beta and the achievements from the games you don't own don't show up on your profile anymore. Which means you can get rid of those pesky achievements (like those Trivia games) by permanently deleting them. It's a nice step up in my opinion.
