I've finished Amnesia the dark descent a while back and recently started playing a machine for pigs, both really good and scary games. I just now saw that they did the 'penumbra' series before amnesia (and it's on sale), so I was wondering if that's worth getting after having played amnesia?

How are the graphics in comparison with Amnesia? Amnesia wasn't the best looking game but for me that made it even scarier, I'm just hoping the penumbra series aren't too much of a step down on that front.

You shouldn't pay much attention to the graphics. But don't worry, I think the graphics in the Penumbra Series are pretty good, even for today.
I played and finished both games and love them, so I would recommend them to you. But they are not exactly like Amnesia (especially not like the big let down A machine for pigs). The Penumbra games have more puzzles and they are a bit trickier if I remember correctly, so if you don't mind them then I would definitely advise you to buy it, especially considering the cheap price

It's worth it. Two first Penumbra games are great. The third one sucks though.

I still have to play requiem, but i really enjoyed the series so far. This comes from a big fan of the original amnesia, i played it before going into penumbra. From what i can tell they have different mechanics and settings, but the story is quite engaging and the atmosphere is great. I would recommend buying it, in particular if you really like the genre (black plaugue is the best episode so far).

Yep, Overture is the first one. It blew me away when I first played it. Inspired me to get a backlit keyboard so I could play it in the dark.
