Europe, but that's quite far from Ireland itself :P
unsure what to do with people I know from Ireland... I think the best is to drop a comment / message them about your topic, it's up to them if they want to reply
edit: messaged them, they'll comment if they feel up to it.

I'm from Vietnam; my age range is 25-30. My work is about AI and content moderation. They didn't specify the exact time, but I think it's not limited.

Hiii 💜
Good luck with your project!
Hope everything will go fine for you. It can be scary to go this far from home, on a whole new continent, but I believe in you. 🫂
The best part is that you'd be way closer to where I live. 😝
I'd like to visit Ireland at some point, eventually, too~
Edit: Oh, and, thank you for the giveaway btw 🫂

Yeah, I may visit you when I have holiday hehe.
Thank you for being awesome, Muddy!

I don't live there but I have been to Dublin many times and it's a pretty cool and lively city which probably has the highest number of people under 30 in Europe. You'll have fun there.
Also loooots of people working in tech and tech support so you'll find your people.
I made the move to Europe from Canada a couple of decades ago and it can be scary to leave everything you knew behind but it is also really rewarding and exciting. I wish you luck in your journey.

I did some research and found out that the renting cost in Dublin is crazy due to the housing crisis.
I hope I can adapt to it. Thank you and I wish you a wonderful holiday!

It's nowhere near as bad as Paris or London, or most big European cities really but even 20 years ago, the people I knew who lived there lived in suburban areas in houses they were sharing with roommates.
You can probably look online to see if there are sites where people advertise when they are looking for roommates. Might be a good way to meet people who know the area and a good first step on your journey.

It already was crazy when I lived and worked in Dublin, many years ago.
If your employer arranges you some estate agent to help find accommodation, don't rely on them only. In my case she only offered us horrible choices, all over. Including an apartment that was just being broken apart during our visit, because the previous tenant literally let it rot I got a nice view into the fridge ... yikes.
Ask your new colleagues instead if they have any recommendations.

Hi there!
I'll keep that in mind. It seems that this renting situation is getting worse due to the influx of huge immigration every year.
And the Government of Ireland doesn't have any practical solution for it.
I'll make sure to ask my new colleagues about it, Thank you for the useful advice!

I'm from Ireland and rent prices are absolutely insane in Dublin.
There's a reason that the government doesn't have a practical solution. Affordable housing can't happen because the cost of materials since the war in Ukraine is insane. Building contractors are like "We can't build a house for 350k and sell it for 300k." And that's fair enough, but it's driving up market prices on existing properties. Something's gotta give. And the government really need to stop investors from buying up private homes. That's the only way that normal people can compete. But you know, half of those who sit in government are probably landlords. =( I don't even want to get into the politics of this country. lol.
I can't really give you better advice than Golwar. Asking your new colleagues is the best thing here. I haven't actually lived in Dublin since 2014 when renting was actually pretty reasonable.

I just read the article from your URL and it sounds scary!
May I ask where are you currently live in Ireland? (if you don't mind)
Thank you for the detailed explanation of the situation!

I currently live about 40-50km from Dublin city centre, so still in the Greater Dublin area. I had to move home to my parent's house due to ill health and honestly haven't been able to afford to rent in Dublin when I recovered. Been helping mum to care for my Dad who has dementia and working freelance from home.
When I go back to work full time, I'll be commuting from here for sure.

I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas and I hope you and your Dad recover from illness.
May the New Year grant your family good health and fortune!
Maybe the best way to afford rents in Dublin is to share a house/apartment.

Ah thank you! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well.
Yes, I think sharing is the smarter choice. It's so ridiculous that I don't think anyone can really afford to rent alone. Hope things return to normal soon in that respect.

Hello, my fellow SGs!
I just received an offer to work in Dublin, Ireland.
I'm from an Asian country, so this is my first time coming to Europe to work. Yay!
This is a completely new environment/culture for me. So I want to make some SG friends who are living in Ireland or Europe.
It would be nice to have a local as a friend, and it would be perfect if that person is from Steamgifts, because this is my most beloved online community. The one that helps me goes through my darkest moment!
Sorry for my clumsy English.
And shoutout to Mudk1p.
