Funny you should say that, because The Creative Assembly (developers of Total War series) are soon going to start work on a new IP with the Alien film franchise license.

That's actually wrong, it's the the Creative Assembly's console team that will handle the Dead Space alike Alien game , that's the team who made Spartan Total Warrior and Viking Battle for Asgard.

I'm hoping for Rome Total War 2. Anyway not too long to wait to find out - July 6th:

I heard that they might wanna try a new era, than they tried before (they kinda did a test with the new standalone FOTS)
So personaly I think it will be 1 worldwar!
I wish it would be Rome 2, but as far as I know they want to wait abit more before they use that card.

Getting a motion capture of Notch pretty much confirms Rome 2. Obviously they need him in order to have realistic flaming pigs.
Notch is Swedish, by the way.

That could be cool actually... I hope it's something with a lot of different units anyway, some of the recent ones especially Empire had a lot of the same units for each faction :P

Nice idea. Hope to command warriors using 3-Barrel Pole Cannon.

I agree that Rome is so far the best of the series. For years I've been waiting for a sequel that has city pathfinding designed for huge unit scale, not tiny.
By the way, how's the pathfinding in the newer games? I only played them up to Medieval II, and that had worse pathfinding than Rome. Trying to get cavalry to actually charge something was nearly impossible.

im not sure although i own all of them iv only played medieval and rome, atm thats all my pc can handle:/

Well it's bugged at times in Empire, especially during sieges. If you bring down a section of wall with a unit on top of it, the game crawls to single digit fps trying to work out pathfinding for the now stranded unit.

Nop. Also, Pathfinding on the campaign map can be retarded at times.

the medieval 2 expansion plus patches and plus the custom campaign mod fixed most bugs. Pathfinding isnt perfect but it normally works.
Empire has horrible pathfiding, possibly the worst in the series but since most of the units fire from range it normally isnt a big problem.
In shogun 2 i still didnt had problems with it however i still only palyed a few hours(20 i think) which are a bit too few to judge the battles.
i havent played napoleon total war

the american civil war would be cool or ww1 or rome 2 total war

you're oponion (:
the coolest would be a new rome total war

Yeah same. Fall of the Samurai was butchered with the gatling gun and such (imo). OP as fuck, especially when CA allows FotS armies to fight RotS and S2 armies in ladder battles. Not cool.

I'm not sure about WW1 tbh, there wouldn't be enough freedom for battles.... It might be too bunkery

i always thought that empire battles would also be 2 lines firing. they are good fun when you add cavalry that can dismount, pikes, cover, buildings, forests, etc
Maybe they can make WW1 battles fun too. i would give them the benefit of doubt, they havent disapointed me yet.

If only there was a game where you could begin with I dunno maybe a few villagers in the dark Age. These villagers can be fighters, but they need minerals, food and wood to sustain their lives. And then, as time progresses, their little group grows into like an empire or something. And they build buildings and fight enemies, the enemies should probably be different colours, and make it so you can face about 8 other empires at the same time. If only.

kinda like civ5 but seeing each induvidual unit so like a mix of Age of empires 3 and civ5?

I would want to see a mix between Civ 5 and Medieval 2 Total War, along those same lines. Graduate through different eras and such.

Fantasy: Total War. Untapped market. Possibility of controlling a vast army of Undead/Fantasy creatures. Yes please!
It's going to be Rome though!

Fantasy total war would be interesting but do they have imagination do make a game like that from "nothing"?
in the fantasy realm i would like to see:
oficial lord of the rings. we have seen what people did with a mod. it would be awesome to have a full fledge game.
warhammer 40k would be quite interesting.
warcraft. this game has some of my favorite characters and armies. Can you imagine controllign the burning legion and invade lorderon in a total war style? i would love that!
Halo.
i imagine the chances they make any of those franchises to a game would be very close to impossible, but i can dream

Personally i think they are going to make WW1. shogun 2 fall of the samurai has lots of "trials" for a possible WW1 game. From railroads to ships bombarding the field, these are new key elements that would work in a WW1 title.
The questions is, can they make WW1 battles fun to play? once i learned about empire total war i thought ground battles would be super boring but i was wrong, they were fun because it was a diferent way to play the great formula of the total war game.
Another reason i say they will make WW1 game instead of Rome 2 is that rome 2 battles would be very similar to shogun 2. To make sure that people don't get bored i think they will make a new game with firearms and after that one the technology has advanced more and they can probably make Rome 2 superior to shogun 2, blowing our minds.
this is my opinion whatever "epoch" they choose i will certanly buy it because i love the style of their games.

I don't think the Total War gamemechanics (despite their name) could simulate modern warfare with big frontlines very well. But I would love to be proven wrong: It's sure about time for finally a good WW1 game.

you should look at it in the summer sale great games!

what total war game do you think will be next?
i personally hope it is Rome TW2 as IMO that was the best game in the series, if not maybe M3TW no2 was also pretty good!
