There comes a time when someone claims the first post and sometimes it's epic in its grand simplicity.
Other times its just another boring response.

It's simple really. On many websites your comment is more likely to be read if it is among the first ones posted. Thus if you are first all eyes that turn to that page are on you.
But of course being first means that you probably didn't take the time to write anything worth while. So we have the same problem as in real life, the people who don't deserve it get all the attention and spotlight, while those who choose to speak only when they truly have something helpful to say are ignored in return for their discretion.
What a world.

I always wondered, why is the first post on a thread/comment box so important to some people? Does it give them like a sensation of a dizzying high when they get that first? Does it solve that hole in their purpose in life?
