I have an idea. If you will create a giveaway you can make a question protecting a giveaway. Exempli gratia:
"What is my name" or "What is the password?"
I am waiting for suggestions.
Have a nice day

It won't make any difference for those who run "bruteforcing" programs.

Well it would add another layer of protection, also I guess that a guess limit could apply to them before they are blocked from the private giveaway, that would make brute forcing any such giveaway pointless.

Yes it would, also did you do the math? 62^5 now with case sensitve codes.

Need a source on this one. Sounds possible, but it may be photoshopped.

Perhaps allow only a limited number of attempts to answer the question every <interval...say 10 hours>, a number that is generous for human comprehension, but shuts out the "bruteforcing" programs to prevent the majority of the harm from hammering the site with requests.

This kind of security will make the site go slower, due the huge amount of new request per user, w/o counting new ppl joining. Personally I like fluent webpages, overloading them doesnt look cool.

Nor would it make a difference when people share the info, which seems to happen a lot.

I think the only foolproof way is to have an option where the gifter has to approve all entries before they're valid.

That would be foolproof...but, man, that could be a huge burden on the gifter. I wonder how many gifters would prefer that to the current system.

It wouldn't be in replace of the system, it would be an option you can choose. Largely for small giveaways that are meant to be exclusive.

I would actually very much like an option like that as all of my giveaways are private and i would love a foolproof method of keeping those who are unwelcome out.

Then dont make a GA, and give the gift directly. Cos if I understand well, in this site you should not care much about who gets the game, cos u do it for the people, not for your ego.

With the change to case-sensitive links, the chances of brute-forcing a link is all but gone, no one is brute-forcing anymore. (unless there are hints to what the code is)

The combination for the unique link is now almost one billion. We've never had a problem with botters or leaks before, I think now that it's a billion we might be okay.

Did anyone even found a private giveaway with intruders who found the link by running scripts?

This calls for drastic measures. We need to exploit bots only weakness.... PARADOXES!

Or let the one who started the giveaway decide the question. He could ask something like "What's my full first name?" which maybe no one would know except for the people that he actually gave the link too. Stuff like that.

Suggesting...

While entering private giveaways, send a messege to the creator, if the creator allows, the user's in, if denied, page will be invalid to that user.

(off topic) (26*2+10)^5=...916132832!
