Thanks!
sorry, couldn't resist
btw, i mostly say thanks if the giver said something.
and you can ask people not to say thanks. it works sometimes

Yep, it would be great to have an option for which kind of messages the notification triggers.

or how about different coloured and positioned (upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right) notifications for different categories?

I never saw the point of it myself either. Bots can leave comments just as easily - I'm assuming it's supposed to be it's an "I'm real!" confirmation.
At least there's a "mark all read" button :)

Yell that "Thanks" is HERESY a few times and a few people will be bound to get the message.

Honestly, if your comment is nothing other than "thanks", I'd rather you don't comment at all.
You can write that in your GAs description. Then you can rightfully lament about people still saying "thanks", because not reading the GA description is super lame.

For the record I have actually seen giveaways where they say just that in the description, and people still post lots of "thanks"es in the comments. I think people have this idea that leaving a comment of any kind somehow increases their chances of winning a giveaway over their odds if they hadn't commented, so they post something quick and mindless like 'thanks for the chance'. :P

Yeah, I know. I've seen such giveaways, too :/
That's why I'm saying it gives the GA creator the right to complain, because people who don't read the descriptions are "facepalm-worthy".

Yup, that's what I'm saying.
The GA creator then has every right to complain about the mindless people not even bothering to read the description.

It is absolutely hilarious, though I have heard of some users blacklisting people for not thanking them (or am I crazy... probably) and some like the comments, so I will add them unless the description says otherwise.

Since you mainly do group GAs, wouldn't it be easier to discuss that within the group?

Yeah I noticed that logic as well.....
Does mainly group giveaways
Yells at everyone cause group annoys him
Logic?

You know things got really bad when someone calling themselves Inquisitor uses the word heresy.
May God have mercy on our souls! :D

My message notification gets so full of "thanks" every time I create a few giveaways.
Honestly, if your comment is nothing other than "thanks", I'd rather you don't comment at all.
UPDATE: LOL now my message notification is full of "thanks" in the discussion forum as well. Well played, internet. Well played.
I love this quote, so I added to the top. Commented by RammPatricia
UPDATE: I actually included the "please do not thanks" in my GA description, people are finally slowly getting it. I wonder was it the power of this thread? Now I do not get 99+ notifications a day now (still I get like 50+).
