Ok, so I've been browsing the trade forums on Steam, and noticed some people have like 6k trading cards. Could somebody explain me how it is possible to get those ridiculous amounts of cards? I really need some tips on gaining cards. In the past I was stupid enough to sell my cards for a couple of cents, I regret that now...

Anyways, any tips are welcome!

You either get them by trading/steammarket or by having many games on steam.
I've sold many of my trading cards on the market but still have over 1000 cards in my inventory just because I have so many games.

edit: a higher steam level will also give you a slighty higher chance to get booster packs.

It's not stupid to sell cards, especially anime cards, you can buy 3 normal cards for 1 anime card. As for how to get cards, well people trade games for cards, buy bundles and trade keys for a certain amount of cards. Buy games and idle, and so on.

Anime cards?

Cards from anime or anime related games. Because relatively few people play them, but the demand is pretty high by those who do, they are usually some of the more expensive cards.

Some "games" on steam are like interactive anime stories or novels

Buy games, sell them for cards. You still have to spend money.

And if you get the game for free huh?

Then you get pure profit. But you rarely see someone buying a game that was once free.

I have card-eligible games through sales and assorted bundles. I originally put $5 into my card stock and started trading. I keep 70% of all my profits and put them back into my inventory, and 30% towards games that I want. After 2 months of trading and my normal buying of bundles that I enjoy playing, I went from about 100 cards to 550+, some TF2 and CSGO items, and a couple gift-able games. I've more than gotten back my investment, and I've been able to help people complete sets and level up either cheaper or more time efficiently than they could on their own. Plus, I enjoy it in my free time. If I dd that after 2 months of trading, I'm sure the people dong this for years have had no issue getting 6k in cards.

How do you valuate cards though? Or do you go sell complete sets to people?

I don't do paypal personally, just through steam itself towards games. I value cards that I have by current market price mostly, except the 4 cent ones which are a little bit lower. Usually through the steamcardexchange site because it's easier than steam. I will only purchase full sets off the market for cheap sets that I can get below market price with money from foils and skins that people trade me. Those I value usually at market price for all the cards. so Skyrim sets I can get at 10 cents a card for 8 cards. 80 cents total, but it takes a while to get all the cards because it's below market. I'll value that at 90 cents towards a trade, which is market price for all put together. Or CSGO, which market is around 30 cents per set, but I value at 20 cents because I can get a set for 16 cents all day long. Is that clear? I may have rambled a bit.

Yeah I understood it. What do you trade it for then? Like let's say you have 3 sets worth about $3-4, do you go straight trading for games/skins/more cards? Also, where do you see set values though? Or is it something you set yourself?

I try and get more cards first, then skins, then games. Skins and the like I add 15% to because I'm going to sell them for cards anyhow. Doesn't much matter to me what cards they give me, as long as the values match up, so I have a bit of everything, As far as where I get the values, you can look at a card in the steam market and see what they usually sell for via the graph at the bottom. For most games though, I go to the steamcardexchange site (I don't think I can post a link. It's not a referral, but I'm trying to stay safe here) and go under their showcase tab. type in the game, and if it has cards, they will have the average price it goes for listed. I'll trade for mostly anything that's 1:1+, but usually keep my margin between 1 and 10 cents, depending how many cards are being traded. I stay away from dota 2 as well, just because I don't know enough to tell what something's worth and I don't want to be scammed or accidentally do it myself.

Thanks for taking your time in explaining to me. I guess I have to experience it myself to figure out something that works for me. Appreciate the help a lot.

I also do 1:1 for any same set. So some people use me to just get rid of duplicates.

you could create a million alt-accounts, buy a million game bundles, activate them in those accounts and idle them with a program.

or you could just trade with people or buy them from the market. :3

You need to purchase at least once per year through Steam Store so that you will be able to trade

You can send a gift game from your main account to your alts, that counts as activation.

Are you sure? Because I activated a game on 1 alt and I still wasn't able to trade. Maybe I am wrong don't know

Yep, i sent a cheap game from my main to my alt as a gift, and then i sent all the cards to my main account. It HAS to be a gift tho, no key.

And it needs to be have cards. If you don't own game with cards from steam store/gift, cards will be untradeable.
Even if game has cards without drops, it's enough. (eg. Dead Island Epidemic Beta gift).

Buy a few bundles and then get as many cards possible.

Become a selfish card trader post in every trading discussion 1:2 1:3 1:4 and so on trading requirements..

Find people who are dumb enough (lots are there) get 3 cards for 1 then trade those to another dumb and so on in a few months you will also have 6k cards. The ones you see having more than 2k cards 95% of them are doing such.

Another way is create a ton of alt account idle cards and get to 6k

There is always another way BUY THEM
