It only took 6 months of taking classes, 5 times a week, 2-3 hours per day but I got there.

I don't know what else to say in the end except for Ugv0r (it means "good luck" in some weird backward language)

I can now make a bunch of cool and super useful stuff as seen in these examples below:

Haven't got the slightest idea what this means, but I hope it's something cool that can also pay the bills. Congrats!
I wish I'd been more intelligent and prudent and hadn't wasted 2 years of my life studying stuff that pays peanuts and is just not required in this country anymore.

Only 6 months you say? I could shoehorn this into my daily joblife and it would broaden my CV massively! As it is now i sit on my arse and take care of the cat 8 hrs a day lol. Very, very intriguing!

Smth. you might be into: Milling Machine Sim 3d

Also: I may need some stuff milled.. 😋

It is an incredibly well-paid job and folks are being poached left and right for it. High demand and not enough people for it. Yes, it is "only" 6 months but you have to set everything aside during that. No social life, no gf, not much free time - only 100% dedication to learning this. It is not easy but doable nevertheless

Oh the gf would´nt like that! I´m retroactively reading page one now and it seems that being proficient in CAD is a fundamental requirement for doing CNC nowadays? Do you think sticking ones nose into solidworks or other 3d modeling applications (blender, since its free) would lower the "learning slope"?

Still very interested, i´ve got some reading up to do.
And cheers to you for pulling through!!! 🍻

Can't say much about CAD since we used Solidworks instead (but they should both be fairly similar). In any case, Solidworks is a big part of it but knowing only that will not get you far. Our education consisted of 1 month of theory, one month of Solidworks, months of learning to write programs, and months of working on an actual CNC milling machine

funnily enough, i find it easier to use a real life milling machine than the one on that game. they really should put some hotkeys

Oh man, we had CNC in my studies, and it was very interesting. We were programming for multi-headed machines and those of us who were familiar with 3D and geometry in general, it was a piece of cake.
If all went well in an interview, I would now be creating parts for one of the most well-known automotive brands :(
Congratulations and good luck in your future!
