I'm curious if any of those openly criticizing the change are making sure to downvote the blog post, given that it's still at +500 upvotes. I imagine downvoting that into negatives would say more to Valve than a Change.org poll ever would. Which, I mean, it's Valve, so they'd probably still ignore it, but at least we'd be able to have a visible expression of our discontent to point to.

I'm pretty sure voting it down does not actually make the count go down. It only shows the number of up-votes.
(For proof if you change your down-vote to an up-vote or vise versa it only changes the count by 1 rather than 2.)

Funny enough, downvoting does diddly dick, as only the positive votes are shown. Same as the Greenlight system: you can have 100 million downvotes (Steam actually has the user base for it), but if you hit the threshold in the upvotes, it is greenlit against the wishes of the 99.99% majority.
