The 970 has a significantly better price/performance ratio; the only cardcurrently made by NVidia that can be called not overpriced.

Not for the particular cards, but you can see the difference in performance.

Yes. your PC is really good i would take the 970! Its a really great card and has much more power than the 960.
Take a look here.
http://www.computerbase.de/thema/grafikkarte/rangliste/

This Site does really good Benchmarks. Its in German but you will understand the list.

970 has probably best price/performance ratio for now, it's much better than 960, so I suggest to go with it, I have 970 myself.

You don't have a clear what you're talking about now, do you?
It's like comparing low settings and mid settings in a single game. Just because you don't "see" any differences, that doesn't mean that there aren't.

Also, the 970 has a higher performance/price ratio. The only card with a better ratio than it would be the R9 390, which beats it in resolutions above 1080p.

For 4K, forget the 960. It's utter crap in any modern games that require GPU power. Even a 770 would fair better than it.
Apart from that, get the 970, as it is able to do more, for a better value.

have the same problem with 970 for 4k you need to get more power for more than mid settings on 4k

Let me just get this out of the way: 4K is currently not feasible with any single card on high settings and above. This is further proven by the fact that only the high-end cards like the 980 Ti being the only bunch to do so. Any other card would be crying for more GPU power.

Realistically: The 970 is worth the extra money above the 960. A little more futureproof too.
Better performance per euro spent, enough power to match the rest of your specs.
So I'd vote that.

Then again: with the new generation coming out. I would be expecting some slight pricedrops which might be worth waiting for. Or hell: getting a new generation card :P The info on those seems promising.

At this time point it's really tempting to wait for the new cards. I really hope a new 970 will pop out.
Let's be honest, the card has a good price/performance ratio compared to what Nvidia is used to deliver. As long as the launch of the new cards will 100% percent happen on 2016, I'd wait (and I barely ever wait for something newer).

I have a ASUS GTX 760 DCU2 which scored 1800 on Valley Benchmark. Switched it to my ASUS GTX 960 Strix and got 1400. So there's that.
