So I've been looking for a job at a dental office for awhile now (since late november 2015, i believe). I finally got an offer from an office...that's two hours away. I vaguely remember sending resumes out that far, because my logic was that no local offices were hiring so out-of-town offices were my only chance.

Anyway, this job commute would take me right through a big city at rush hour. I'm not used to driving through big cities. ALSO, I would have the funds to move closer to the job in question until much later. Much much MUCH later. But I don't want to risk letting this pass by. This could very well be my only chance to finally get a career going and be able to stop taking crappy part-time retail jobs where people look at me like i'm a slab of meat instead of a human being. And like I mentioned earlier, local offices aren't hiring. And if they were, they'd go for someone with 3+ years experience who was also bilingual. Not some fresh-out-of-school English-only chick.

So yeah. I don't know if I should go for this interview or if it'd even be worth the effort.

No giveaway this time, cuz I'm just that bummed out/anxious/conflicted. Sorry.

WELL AN UNEXPECTED END TO THIS SITUATION

ummmm....soooo the office cancelled my interview. i got a voicemail from them at about 11am, and they were asking me to come in at noon. since it takes me two hours to get up there, and i'd already set up plans to be there at 2pm, that wouldn't be doable. I called the office back and got in touch with the actual dentist, and told her that i lived two hours away and couldn't make that appointment. she said "oh, i didnt realize you were that far away." so the discussion continued, it ended with "i don't think i'll be a good fit for your office, but thank you for considering me." and so, the interview was cancelled.

then i paced the house for five minutes and tried not to cry out of frustration and disappointment, succeeded, and drove around to local offices to check on resumes and ask if they knew any offices that were hiring. one office said they'd be hiring in two months, so thats the closest to a "yes" ive gotten in four months.

BUT...important thing is i had the wherewithal (i think i'm using that word correctly). and that i have a giveaway going that will be ending in three hours.

Sorry to hear that... I have a lot of interview experience with dental offices. Ideally they would want to hire someone within a 30 minutes radius. But I would've told you to go to the interview anyway if it something you really wanted. Better luck next time! If you want any interview help you are welcome to ask me! :)
