Am I just incredibly dumb? I have no idea what the numbers have to do with anything. You can't put them in anywhere, you can't search them, so I really don't know what on earth you do with them. Would at least like to know when the giveaway is over for future knowledge. I already own the game so i can't enter, but I'm really clueless on how you do this puzzle

Happy birthday!
Unfortunately, I can only understand how it is hidden, but not how I could solve it. So, puzzle skip for me. :)

Okay, a good morning bump from europe. Have added Edit 1. So maybe there will be someone out there figuring it out so I don't have to feel bad about the puzzle O.o
PS: Could someone tell me how to make something bold here, so I can highlight the numbers?

A new day, a new good morning from europe. Added a bit of music today so people may be more interested. Feel free to bump to thread even if you have problems solving the puzzle (it is solvable, see above). If tomorrow the number is still disappointing there will be come some useful hint. So far there is one main information (the numbers) and three side informations (all attacking the same thing= for solving this.
PS: Still need help with editing like emphasis on numbers and maybe the link.

I know what you're hinting at but I've have only ended up with gibberish so far.

Okay, and so I learned that thread titles can not be longer than 100 characters ..... Okay, it is saturday morning. So a new good morning bump from Europe. We have already reached 15 comments and only 7 are from me! So far I am aware of two solvers and one participant.

Like the title says. It is the final day. Still only two solvers and one participant. In around 4 hours and 40 minutes after this post, the winner will be determined. Save my CV or let the only participant become a joyful winner with his 100 % chance. Its in your hands.

Not that it matters, as I couldn't have joined the giveaway as I already have the game.
I did try your puzzle, and did it "correctly" even before the second hint. However, I didn't get the correct answer because you have the bit order wrong. The first bit, much like the first digit in any decimal number, is the one on the right, not the left. Since you can always pad a number with zeros on the left. Granted, specifying 8 bits constrains the size. But it still doesn't make you expect to have to count places from the end.
Oh, and the first, original, hint, just made me try octal (except for the number with an 8), modulo 8, etc. Like I said, a binary number can be any size.
Anyway, if you want statistics on participation I recommend using itstoohard even if it's just a 1 question puzzle. That way you can see how many participants, attempts, and solvers there have been.

Yea, I know that a binary number can be any size but in regard to the "conventional" binary decoding used in this forum or programs like Xlate it is mostly the 8-digit number.
Hm, I didn't think too much about the order. It is right that the digit on the right is the first but if you are dictating numbers like 1798 you would also start on the left like: the first digit is a "1". Atleast I think so. Maybe that has been a reason for the little number of solvers.

Argh. Good thing I didn't solve it... Or my brain would have blown up.
By the way, I highly doubt support can help you with your CV. It's not like they have access to that kind of stuff. :)

I'm not to sure but it seems it is some kind of ritual to make a giveaway on your birthday. I don't know if it means real life birthday or just your anniversary on Steamgifts. Since it seems that I had birthday today I just make a giveaway to be on the safe side.
Now to the actual interesting part, the giveaway. Since it is a puzzle I will tell you the game before: Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams. It is the only game of the Humble Bundle XI I already had, so I will just give it away. The game is a platformer, most time okay and sometimes a little unfair. Not recommended for achievement hunters (trust me). Here is the additional information you need to make your way.
2357 345 237 23568 237
PS: I will send the game per E-Mail (Humble Bundle Link) pretty close to the ending of the giveaway (Sunday 3 pm). Would be nice if you are prepared for this and mark your receive of the game.
PPS: I do not intend to give hints. I need atleast two people to enter for my CV -_- So I say, I will only give hints if the participation number is lower than 5 on friday. If you know what to do it shouldn't be too hard, so no sharing hints, no sharing URL, blabla most of you know this stuff.
PPPS: If you find a mistake tell me. If I find one I will correct it myself (beside my terrible english)
Edit 1: Maybe the game is not interesting but concerning the slightly low number of solvers there is a small change of plans and I will give a bit of help. In order to make you way you have to do a two step transformation with the given five numbers. The first one is the unusual and needs additional information (remember what was the very first you read of this thread). The second transformation is done fast for everyone following this forum regulary.
Edit 2: Music is a bit special but may be interesting for older gamers if they recognize the one or other sound hearing there. Do not worry; it is their own website and they are really giving it away for free. Link to their album (8-Bit Lagerfeuer): http://pornophonique.de/music.php
Edit 3: Okay it is friday so here is a hint. Atleast I hope it is hintful/helpful. Maybe you should regard the five numbers not as numbers but think of them more as a "lineup" . For example: 23568 = 85236 = 65382 = ..... you get the picture.
Solution: The main information have been the 5 numbers. Those 5 numbers have to be transformed into the 5 characters for the giveaway page. For the first step you need the additional information from the topic (A game of eight) or if that hasn't been obvious enough the 8-bit from Edit 2. With the number 8 the common users of the forums should associate two things. Either a code for a toohard puzzle or the number of digits in binary codes. The 8-bit tells us that you need to transform the numbers into a binary code. So you have two possibilities of doing this. First you could mathematics and calculate the actual numbers into binary but that would be to complicated. Or you figure them as lineup. In the end the given numbers give you the positions of the "1s" in your binary number. So for example: 2357 = 01101010; 345 = 00111000; 237 = 01100010 and 23568 = 01101101
Then you just have to translate them into the characters and you will get the 5 character code. Just try it out. Feel free to comment (for example the given question) here or the giveaway page.
If by any chance the support is reading this: Is there any chance for me to get a CV for this giveaway. I know that I needed atleast two participants. But I find a tiny bit unfair that I get punished for taking more effort and creating a puzzle which has been perfectly solvable .... I will survive it but since I don't make giveaways two often I would appreciate it if I could get the CV (although bundled game and therefore not much)
