When I try to sync my profile it shows me that I have my profile private while it actually is public. In fact everything in my profile is public. Also, in my account settings, I set it to show me only the games that I don't have. Some of the giveaways disappeared because I have them but most of them didn't. I don't want to get banned for an honest mistake made because of the sync issue. So, is anyone else facing the same issue as me ? or not?

It's likely a bug with the Steamgifts plus Chrome extension. I'm guessing you have it? Disable it and try. It worked for me.

I've already submitted a support ticket about this so hopefully it'll be worked out soon. :)

I did encounter this error earlier. I just kept refreshing and pressing sync button until it works.

That happens often, just wait and keep refreshing the page. Don't worry that you will be banned because you don't sync, that won't happen ;)

I tried refreshing several times but still it's showing me the same result. What worries me about the ban is not missing the sync but entering giveaways that I already have by mistake.

Had to try again and again for almost 10 minutes to get my account to sync. Something to do with Steam community not responding in time, or so I've heard.

Yep, happening to me too sadly. Makes me paranoid, since I've bought a few different game packs recently and I'm afraid I'll accidentally enter a giveaway forgetting that I already have the game ;A;

Wow, really people? This is an issue with THE STEAM COMMUNITY SERVERS. It's SALE time. LOTS of community server activity, and furthermore overall load on their bandwidth through store transactions. Time-outs happen (that's why it's so slow), then the query to steam errors up. Simple.

Just keep hitting the refresh button.

Or, do what I do and hit it about 5 times, wait 15 minutes, try again. Works like a charm.

why the hell are you yelling????

did you even read what I said ????????

I'm facing the same thing constantly and the sale just started yesterday

I know how servers and websites work. So either say something valuable or SHUT UP

?? You know how servers work? Really now. The sale just starting yesterday has 0%, no bearing whatsoever on anything I said. The instant it started chat rooms were rife with people, a lot were and are online on steam to begin with, and there are tons of store transactions going on, all the time. The whole community is slow and buggy, and often spits out random render errors and time-outs. Aside from that, community servers are often buggy for a few days before a sale, too.

Yes, I read everything you said, including your "I don't want to get banned for an honest mistake made because of the sync issue" line, which makes no sense whatsoever.

I have had the exact same problem loads of times before, and I fixed it exactly as I said - trying again and again and again, maybe clearing cache / cookies and logging in again to sgifts. This issue is a known problem on steam gifts that everyone that's been here a while has experienced and knows about all too well, even outside of sales periods. How long have you been here? 1 month. First time on sgifts during a sale period for you. Not for me, or a fuckload of other users, who have seen this many times before and know exactly what to do - Hit F5 and stop bellyaching.

P.S. I've worked IT for 8 years, please don't say "I know how servers and websites work" then follow up with "So say something valuable or shut up". I DID say something valuable -

I explained the problem you have, and the solution. Be smart and take it, or act like a stubborn fool and leave it.

Yeah, that was happening to me too but it worked a while later.

Regarding games you already have, if you have a game and it's on your Steam account it shouldn't let you enter it. If you do enter a giveaway and you own the game but didn't notice or mistook the title for another game, just let the owner of it know, so they can do a redraw.

I plan on doing so but it's frustrating how it shows that I don't have them and keeps showing up
