I'm not seeing a thread for this one, oddly enough. Maybe I just missed it?

Register an account at https://gamesrepublic.com/ and you can get a Steam key for free.

Their registration page doesn't play well with Chrome's autocomplete, so if you're having trouble signing up, maybe don't use that.

Edit: Apparently this is pretty old, my mistake.
