When do you buy a game?
I bought an early access game at full price during the summer sale.
It really just depends on the game for me.

Sales, sales, sales. I see no reason to play a game as soon as it's out. Just pretend it isn't released yet, and grab every game a few years late. It's basically the same thing except you aren't playing what's "trending" - and I don't give a shit about that.
I'm not saying that owning a recently released game isn't nice, it always is. But buying them full price? Screw that.

It's heavily dependent on the game. Most triple A console games I buy either in the first week, if I have enough and want it enough, or half a yaer to a year and a half later preowned. most steam games I wait for a sale, usually free weekend or seasonal sale. Sometimes if it gets a good bundle or a decent weekly sale, and occasionally I'll buy it full price if I really want to play that instant.

I mostly get my games from bundles, or when they're highly discounted, as I can't afford spending too much money on videogames.
The only game I happily bought at full price was Besiege, when it was still in early Alpha and priced €6.99, and despite it having been priced lower since then, I still don't regret that purchase. In fact, I should've bought it earlier...

It's really a nice game, I bought it after seeing some Youtube videos with my brother, and immediately liked the concept.
I played it a lot back then, but then I lost my save when I had to format Windows (>_<), and I put it aside in my backlog...
It made a lot of progress since then, including Workshop support and a sandbox mode!
But even after a year and half of development, it still doesn't have Steam cloud support or achievements >_<

If its a game i want to play badly i dont wait for sales i just buy it and enjoy it and i dont really care if someone later down the road get the same game for cheaper
If its a game i just want to play but dont really care for when, i just buy it when i find an acceptable sale for my standards

Depends on the game really. I'll pay full price for a game if it has no issues and it interests me, but I'll knock down it's value inside my head for everything it gets wrong. 10% for each issue is how I usually do it. Issues like, too short, too much fan service, not having a fair amount of graphic options, 30fps lock, etc etc

Yep I almost always wait for big-ish sales. Once in a blue moon I will preorder if I already know I love the game/company and want to support them/plan on playing the game ASAP (ie: Binding of Isaac Rebirth or Don't Starve DLC), but even then it's still on sale a little.
Most of the time you can have a better experience waiting anyways, since there are bugs or things the community complains about that the devs end up changing/improving upon. Also saving money is always a big plus. :D

I sometimes buy them when they come out, wait for a sale or pick them up when they're bundled, it just depends on when I think I might play it. If I know I'm going to play it right away, I'll buy a game when it is released. If it's a game dev/publisher known to pump out tons of DLC and sell it a year or so later as a complete edition, I'll wait and get the complete version. If by then I'm busy playing something else and know I won't play it right away, I'll pick it up on sale. If it gets bundled by then, I'll grab it on a bundle.

So I am the only person to vote when it comes out.

So, I found my self asking this question. Just bought Shadow of Mordor GOTY for like 4€ and I almost felt sorry for the people purchasing in full price and had to pay extra for the Season Pass and stuff. I know that I could have tried it 2 years ago, but I don't mind waiting really ^^. Also, can't afford buying AAA games full-priced so I have to settle with that.
No obligatorry gibs. SOrry SG :(
