I loved Gex: Enter the Gecko on the PS1. It was one of the first 3D platformers I've ever played. I remember my neighbor showing off his N64 with Super Mario, and I was like "Yeah? Well look how badass this gecko is" lol

Now I actually can't remember which one I had. Maybe it was Deep Cover Gecko. Either way, it was not a good game, objectively. But it was one of the first I played on the PSX, and the leap from 16 to 32-bit was quite something back in the day. Strong nostalgia vibes hahaha

Yeah when you had to get a specific console to play specific games, such as final fantasy 7-9 with it's disc swapping.

Discworld Noir was awful, that was just a slideshow.

My neighbor had a N64 so I stopped at his house all the time to play stuff like Glover, Turok, Perfect Dark, and Banjo-Kazooie. Ofc at some point he bought Goldeneye, and the rest is history

He dropped at my place to play a lot of PSX stuff as well. We pretty much played the PSX port of Chrono Trigger together, and I loaned my memory card to a buddy in school that returned me a save with everything unlocked in YuGiOh Forbidden Memories, which allowed me and my neighbor to crush all the opponents that had terrified us in the past hahaha good times

ooh neat! I have never played or heard of TimeGal, looks like it was from laserdisc. I did play Gex64 and Lunar games (I still own Lunar in physical format). I'll be keeping an eye on em, though $50 seems too steep for lunar :3.

Two full rpg games though, was same with Suikoden and some others.

You probably can get them a bit cheaper on reseller sites.

A shame LRG is involved with Gex, it'll surely be a piss poor port with issues.

I played Time Gal on Sega CD years ago and I just couldn't get the timing down or something to even get past the first screen.

I can't imagine half the 1990s era humor from Gex has aged well.

For Gex fans in UK or Europe;

This seems to just be the American version of the games voiced by Dana Gould. The European version of Enter the Gecko was voiced by Leslie Phillips, and Deep Cover Gecko was voiced by Danny John-Jules.

Timegal getting a release people can actually play is great! It's one of those classics that virtually no one, even those into emulation, ever got a chance to play, so this is great news :)

Gex on the other hand is just another cash grab, like most PS1 games released to Steam, which uses a crappy emulator instead of being proper ports. So all the typical PS1 issues will be there (wobling triangles, distoprting textures, etc.). The only plus side is they seem to have at least implemented 16:9 support, so at least a little more effort went into the release then simply testing that their emulator could run the iso. But yea, I'd still say you'll almost certainly get a better experience using Duckstation with PGXP enabled, or if you want the most authentic experience just use an actual PS1 (either connected to a CRT, or via an HDMI mod + Retrotink 4K).

With Lunar they apparently removed/replaced all the original voice actors :(
